Perhaps if we're suffering for numbers tonight, then: - defending in depth (three back) - playing the ball forward "on the break" - rotating tired players between positions might compensate for "substituting when tired"?

Andrew Little
Basically we need to pace ourselves i.e don't run after balls that you have no chance of catching, allow the opposition to play in their half but close them down when they begin to advance towards our goals and also sit deeper than usual, possibly hitting them on the break whenever the chances arise to.

Matt Selen (captain)
Offensive policy tonight. Dave in an attacking right sided role. Andy controlling midfield supported by Stu C. Good feeling about tonight lads. There be goals about !!!

Cometh the hour, cometh The Men!
A stunning 5-1 win over the newcomers from Mercedes Benz, it was all the more gratifying in that the mistakes in the game could be counted on the two fingers which we metaphorically held up to them :-)
With no substitutes available, we faced a long hard game and so it proved. As had been suggested previously, though, the lack of substitutions perhaps contributed to our win, as everyone knew what to expect of each other, and there was no interruptions as players went off and came on. All five goals were excellent, but two worthy of mention were a breakaway run by Dave Jones, slotted neatly past the diving 'keeper, and a stunning curled effort from Antipodean Matt from the right wing which nestled sweetly into the top left of the goal - an early contender for Goal of the Season!
From my position in goal, it was a joy to watch the sweet precision passing, and the way we toyed with the opposition. Once we got ahead, we exploited the gaps left as they pushed forward. They did threaten to get back into it for 5 minutes, after they pulled the score back to 3-1, but once we got our fourth it was all but over. OK, I have to say it.... The goal I let in was a shocker! I didn't bother diving for it, because I thought it was going wide! Plonker.... I did make up for it with other good saves, but I spoiled my clean sheet....
Third in the league, but let us not make the same mistake as last season and get overconfident Bring on Real Law!!

Matt Selen
What good reading the table makes!!! Well done again to everyone. Brilliant effort.

Andrew Little
I said this time last week we'd be sitting on 6 points now. Yesterdays game is history our next goal now is to accumulate at least 4 points within the next two games so that we stay on track for our push for promotion. Lets put that win to the back of our minds now and focus on our next game, its important to take one game at a time and not get ahead of ourselves. I'm sure with the right attitude we can definately build on this good start we have made and aim for a promotion slot. Up the corkers! Upwards and onwards

David Atkinson
Four points?? In our quest for Global Domination we must settle for nothing less than clean sheets and decisive wins!! "The only team which can beat us, is us! Believe in the dream (of promotion), Comrades!"

David Jones
Should be sitting pretty on 9 points to be fair. Saint and Co got beat by Belle Vue who are pure shit!! An example being only a draw with the Window Shop. They got beat by Casa Pedrosa in their other game as well, with their only win against us...

Stuart Chandler
Gentlemen, we certainly have nothing to fear. We'll give anyone a game if we carry on playing football. Pass and move lads. Pass and move!

Lee Ormerod
Excellent result lads - I'm gutted not to have been part of the goal fest! I am unavailable next week, so you should get another win.
