Crown Corkers 4-1 Window Shop

2006-12-11

Pre-Match

David Jones
Scoring lots of goals, no better game to do it than against Windows Shop! Reminds me of one of England's qualifiers years back against San Marino, where someone had to lose (I think) but we had to win by 7 goals, and we all knew it was a great match if we ever needed to score 7... against San Marino. I think Ian Wright scored four and we only won 7 - 1, they scored in like 5 seconds.

Dave Atkinson
OK, so if:
AVE IT! lose
we win
swing of 14 in the goal difference between us and AVE IT!
who is up for hanging on after our game to cheer on Belle Vue???
I remember that San Marino game. As the match kicked off, I started to draw a pint of homebrew cider and San Marino scored before my pint glass was full !!!!!!

Andrew Little
If i can get a hold of a gun by next week i'll hold it against the AVE IT and beez kneez goalkeepers heads and demand they let 10 goals in each. I suppose i'll have to do the same to the outfield players aswell to make sure they don't score. I'm not going to far there am i? All in the rules of the game? I reckon that ref would let it go!

Well done lads, good effort last night and a rewarding 4-1 victory to cap off a more than average season. Some good individual goals especially by Dave and Stu C last night but most importantly we managed to win games B2B which is what we'll have to do on a regular basis if we are going to be serious promotion contenders next term. Also nice to see Martin back in a corkers shirt hopefully we'll have him back to full fitness by the time the new season comes around. I wish everyone a proper crimbo and a happy new year!

Lee Ormerod
Good result to cap off a fair season. If we take the positives with us next season we'll be r0mping it home. Must admit though I do regret coming off. Not p1ssed off or owt coz we won but if I'd known I wasn't gonna see more than a minute more of the game I'd have stayed on. Matt was right though summat needed to change coz we were sluggish out of the sticks despite hitting the bar and making a few chances

Dave Jones
Sorry about that mate I genuinely came off as soon as I felt my legs going! I know there wasn't that long left. I know how frustrating it is when you come off early though and only see two minutes at the end. Doesn't matter, we done Ave it this season for the second seasong running. Hopefully we'll see them next season in Division one but I think it will be two seasons at least until we play them again as they'll probably go down.

Martin Taylor
Sorry too, but I thought I needed to get a full game. Strange how the attitude of the team has changed, now everyone wants to play a full game where we used to have subs every 5 minutes last season.

Dave Atkinson
Apologies to all for my (cold induced) absence on Monday night, but as always it appears that my attendance was not needed! Congratulations on securing another victory, and hopefully a full squad next season will see us rise serenely from Tier 3 to Tier 2.
