Mercedes Benz for us next week. Our biggest win (5-1) last season was against them, but let us not go in cocky - they may have improved.
Matt Selen
Attacking policy tonight. There be Goals to be scored.
Time to give those Mercedes boys another stuffing.
Build on the good things from last week under hopefully more favourable conditions for our flowing, passing football.

when I scream 'turn and face', then at least look at them as they start to run forward with the ball. And when I scream 'BACK!!' that means I am on the verge of needing new trousers.......

Last week I said the following following comments about playing 'The Originals', but it equally applied last night:
'remember what a funny league this can be, and how over confidence has led to arse-whuppings for us in the past.'
Apologies to Matt for walking away last night after the match, but for him to describe our defeat as 'unlucky' was a misuse of the English language. It was shite. Yes, we hit the framework, but so did they. It could just as easily have been 4-1 to them. How did they beat us? Did their defending in depth and breaks forward not remind everyone of our tactics when we play at our best? It is noticeable that when we play at our best, I have no problem finding someone to distribute the ball to. At times last night, I looked up to see half our team in the opposition territory.
I really can't be bothered to say anything more than if we had defended solidly from the start, we would (and should) have walked away with the win.

Still 27 points to play for so lets not get to down-hearted. Once we find our rhythm we'll be a decent force.

it was obvious what game we were going to play with a 1-2-2 formation so get over it. at the end of the day that's the second time half the team the team have seen a football in the last 6 weeks and it showed. no bu11sh!t thousand word essays needed.
i must say though i thought jonesy tried to decapitate that lad as from where i was it definitely looked like a push into the net!

Never laid a hand on him. Yet another occasion where someone has just got in the way of me when I'm running, I had the weight on him going into the collision..... just one of them things. It was nice yet again see the player come over and apologies for his unjust reaction (which explains it all really). As Martin said last night, a bit more agression wouldn't do us any harm, the majority of the time we seem to be f@nnying out of 50 / 50's or playing no harder than we do when we play against each other in a practice session. We let them walk all over us and it's annoying to think we were doing the complete opposite a few week before in the season previous.
Yes, it was poor last night and I apologise for my awful concentration and passing direct to their forward in the second half but we know we are not on top of our game. Bring on next week because I can't wait, let's give the Stanwix girls some grief.

i agree and i know i'm guilty of it - though yesterday i went in hard on a 50-50 with the same guy who said you could have 'broken his neck' jonesy and now i'm struggling with a limp! reckon we need to take a leaf out of most other people's books (especially last week) and not care about going through players to get to the ball. to be fair to them last night they were a sound bunch and in the eyes of atko 'won justly'. a couple of practice sesssions and our passing will get back to where it used to be!
Dave Jones
I remember that one and it was a good challenge. That number 7 was game as anyone and because of it if no one really went in with him he would come away with it everytime because we'd just watch him. Happened dozens of times. Must admit I was gunning for him a bit at the end when he went into the net but the ball was there to be won, if I backed off I would have never even had the chance of winning it. When the'yre defending / shielding like that and you just back off we're never ever going to win the ball.
Anyway just one of them things, one of our best assets last season was the way we hounded them and never let them have anything so sure we can get back to normal with everything we done wrong (passing etc!) sooner rather than later.
