Post-Match

Dave Atkinson
My fault. I was poor last night, and should have saved all three shots. My distribution at times was appalling. I apologise. We let them run us around a bit, too. I was very annoyed when I realised that two of the players that started for them were from a higher league, and that we weren't informed. They were involved in the first goal.

Dave Jones
Wasn't the fault of any individual. We did let them run us around a bit, again, which as we know is completely out of character for the Corkers.... Next game we'll hit form after we regain our touch and fitness in a good hour's worth of footy tomorrow. We just haven't started playing football yet. I think we've got about two more gears to go

Andrew Little
I've already said sorry for my sin binning that may have cost us 2 points but i can't express how frustrated i was and still am

Lee Ormerod
swearing at the ref is a guaranteed way to get sent off. we scored a goal with 5 men, when there were times i didn't think we'd ever get another with 6! you're not the first to be sin binned and as long as jonesy is on the team - you won't be the last!!!!! i thought it was the best game we've played this season - but still not as good as we were. let in some soft goals - but we scored them too. thank god for stu or i think we'd still be looking for our first of the season!

Dave Jones
If someone has made a mistake and we're a man down (hopefully it doesnt happen), and concede a goal, and you really have to blame someone... only blame yourself the players on the pitch. It's far too easy to look for a scapegoat. In future... If a player gets sin binned (hopefully doesnt!) - there is two minutes where everyone gets back marking players and don't let them play. It's not impossible (did we manage to score when Mercedes were a man down last week?). This is obviously having to including Big stu or whoever was playing out and out striker at the time who normally waits further up the pitch. Easy for me to say because I was off the pitch at the time and everyone was nackered but it wasn't happening. can't be on with any negativity from now on, yesterdays game is behind us. Our heads drop far too easily. It could have been miles worse and we done well to get anything at all from it!

Dave Atkinson
At the risk of being contentious and upsetting folk, the attitude of it being right to talk back at the ref (and even swear) isn't acceptable. Even if the ref is totally wrong, play to the whistle and (as I said last night and previously) keep your gob shut! That way, you can't get sin binned. As I've also said previously, this is typical of soccer players at all levels and reflects society at a general level not respecting authority. Any comments to the referee should be made calmly and politely, preferably only by the captain, and should only query the nature of the decision.

Dave Jones
Dave A, of course you are right about swearing at the ref (it will never do us a FAVOUR), I have never done this and nobody has said "it is right and should be done"... Just commenting that he made an awful decision and our player got wound up... The point is - what happened happened, there was no going back we just needed to get on with things as best we could... It is by no means inevitable we MUST conceed a goal just because someone has left the pitch for two minutes.

Andrew Little
I'll try my best to keep quiet in the future and once again apologise to everyone for my outburst last night.

Martin Taylor
Come on, we know that Andrew going off the pitch for 2 minutes isn't why we didn't play well last night. It also never contributed to their goal while he was off the pitch, it was a very negative tactic to go 4 at the back and let them get out of their own half. I think we do need to be more positive, but back each other up. I seen plenty of times last night where we just assumed that Stu would keep the ball until the midfield caught up with him, but at walking pace that aint gonna happen. I think that some of the team need to start getting some fitness, lads in their twenties should be able to run around for 25 minutes without getting knackered. Fitness gives you an extra gear all on it's own, and teams like Stanwix and Bell Vue are slow teams that we could just easily walk past. We should work on ball skills tomorrow, but we should all plan a schedule of running, sprints and drills. If we want to win this bl00dy league, we've got to want it and do something about it.
