a word of warning. James has joined the Window Shop (the lad who played that game for us who plays for workington reds) and they also have a lad playing for them who was one of the best on our uni team.
Left Back with a thunderous shot. Their captain is also the lad of our old uni team. Good player but not an individual performer.
Could be much harder to beat this season.
Dave Jones
We know we can defend and keep tight, we have proven that in recent games. We defend from the front and are the best team in the league at hassling and closing down players... Are window shop ready for that? Of course we can unravel them!
Window shop haven't got any experience of the corkers power in numbers, when we hit them, it's gonna feel like they tried kissing a speeding train...
Here's a quote from Rocky 6:
Duke: To beat this guy, you need speed. You don't have it. And you've got calcium deposits on most of your joints, so sparring is out.
Paulie: I had that problem.
Duke: So what we'll be calling on is blunt force trauma. Let's start building some hurtin' bombs
Lets apply this theory to our game against The Window puffters *followed by rocky theme tune*
Stuart Chandler
Anyway. Two games left. Six points to play for. We'll give it our best shot against Window Shop (which is still a winnable game) then the Saints. Regardless of other results, I'm sure we'll all go out to win both games.
Dave Atkinson
From observing Window Shop in previous weeks, I think the way for us to beat them is to defend in depth, soak up the pressure and do long ball breaks to a single man waiting up front. Window Shop are willing to shoot from anywhere, and have scored an average of five goals (and a minimum of two goals) per game. I would hope to concede the lowest against them this season, but we need to be looking to score at least one goal more than them ;-)
Dave Atkinson
The only criticisms are:
- we got pulled out of shape occasionally, with Big Stu ending up in defence
- lack of goals
- fatigue took its toll in the second half, with them having "extra men" in our half
In reality, an almost flawless performance last night, which proved what this team was capable of this season. Well done all! Now, let us beat Saint & Co next week and finish as high as we can. We have a psychological advantage before next week's game, as they failed to get any past me last night when I was playing for Cumberland Building Society.
I am disappointed that I won't be the "least condeded" keeper this season, but there you go.....
Andrew Little
Must say i've missed some sitters in my time and that one last night is up there. When i'm one on one with the GK i should be putting them away. Apart that miss i thought it was certainly one of my better performances of the season which to be honest i've been very poor by own standards this term (not looking for sympathy vote, i know i can do far better) and intend to put it right next season.
I've heard certain players are leaving us at the end of the season so good luck to them, hopefully we'll have Big Stu back to full fitness by then and can push for the top three from the off.
One more game to go so lets win and finish the season on a high!
David Jones
Yep all the best of luck to them, we've now got a brilliant opportunity to improve our team and can look forward to a guaranteed 3 pointer in the new league next season against the NHS side.
On another note I assume the new NHS side is to be personally funded and not paid for by me, the taxpayer?!
Dave Atkinson
I always fancy my chances as a 'keeper when one-on-one with a player, and I tend to save twice as many as I concede in those circumstances. I think confidence and psychology play a big part for the 'keeper. I just realised - the clean sheet I kept for Cumberland Building Society means that they've now conceded one goal less than us over the season!!
d'oh!
Dave Jones
What I can't believe is the reason you haven't been scouted all your time playing. Not joking, I think you are easily Championship standard goalkeeping material.
Have you never been offered a contract with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or any other big clubs over the years????
Dave Atkinson
Well, my man boobs led to me being offered a place with Carlisle United Ladies......
It appears they made some mistakes with the results and table for last Monday, including having the game I played in down as a 4-1 defeat. Beez Knees are still looking a cert for promotion, however. We could still finish fourth, if other results go our way.
