I'd driven down to Brother Bob's so that we could go to the airport on Thursday morning for our flight to Toronto. The plane was a pleasant surprise in that there was plenty of legroom. The flight was good and they had "The man in the iron mask" on (Leo DC). After arriving we freshened up, wandered around the city and crashed out at 20:30 local time. Well it was 01:30 to us!
We had breakfast in the hotel and then headed for Ottawa via Smith's Falls. I had started with some sort of cold and spent most of the trip asleep in the car! We had a quick wander around Ottawa and had an Italian meal in the evening before fishing off with a drink in the hotel bar.
On Saturday we had breakfast in the hotel before driving to Montreal. When we got there we had a quick drink at a bar and then started the touristy things. This included the Amphi-bus which was a tour bus which also drove out onto the river!
On Sunday we did the McCord museum and then sat in the bar for lunch writing postcards and watching the Jamaica World Cup soccer match. In the evening we went on a river cruise before going back to the hotel and finishing the postcards.
On Monday we did the Montreal "Underground City", that is all the shops. We went for lunch at 14:00 and then sat and watched the England game. Very depressing, Romania 2 England 1 :-( Back at the hotel we played cards and watched the Toronto Bluejays - Montreal Expos baseball game on the TV.
On Tuesday we headed back to Toronto and watcxhed Scotland get knocked out of the World Cup :( In the evening we went and watched the Toronto Bluejays - Montreal Expos baseball game at the Skydome. This is the second time we have watched the Bluejays there.
Wednesday was really just packing and some last minute shopping at a factory outlet mall near Toronto before flying home.
We got back to England at 06:30 on Thursday morning and I drove back up to Carlisle and went to bed at 11:00 and then got up at 16:30 because I was playing lawn bowls that night! I was part of the team that won the competition last year, but we only managed third this year.
I got up late on Friday and spent the day doing laundry and tidying up, and then watched the last Jamaica match in the afternoon. And then the fun really began! England's last first round game and they had to win or draw - they won! As soon as the final whistle went, we knocked the TV off, ran out to the car, drove into town and legged it to The Page (a nightclub in Carlisle). We had a good time !-)
