Pre-Match exchanges between The Corkers, and the 'splitters' (Dave and Martin)

Lee Ormerod (Corker)
also reckon we should have summat to eat at pub on monday as a farewell (and thanks for nothing as we are STILL in div 2) to nhs wimps!

Dave Atkinson
hah! Without me, you'd be languishing at the bottom of the table ;-) I am truly awesome!

Andrew Little (Corker)
Well we'll see next season won't we.... I think we should sign a goalkeeper this time rather a gardener to stand in between the sticks ;-)

Dave Jones (Corker)
What I can't believe is the reason you haven't been scouted all your time playing. Not joking, I think you are easily Championship standard goalkeeping material. Have you never been offered a contract with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or any other big clubs over the years????

Dave Atkinson
Well, my man boobs led to me being offered a place with Carlisle United Ladies......

Lee Ormerod (Corker)
i can just imagine all the nhs pansies sat round a dinner table biting their nails and sweating over the massive dilemma they faced. then bricking it as they place their anonymous votes into the secret ballot box in case the vote master dave a spots them making a wrong decision and puts them right!

Martin Taylor
I really don't think you understand that we are not just an office team of hopeful footballers.

Dave Jones (Corker)
You would honestly think you were scared of playing us!

Dave Atkinson
Aye, o'course - ah's fair wettin' m'pants at th' thought o' facin' th' mighty Corkers' shots......... Panic ye not, peasants - we will face each other over the green field of combat..... one day...... Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but some day soon...... for tomorrow is another day.... Grasshopper.

Dave Atkinson after confirmation of The Separatists getting into the league
we do have a team from the NHS in next season, we're going to whup your arses!!

Dave Jones (Corker)
Of course playing for NHS will not be frustrating at all seeing as you are all a team of terminators and will win every game with no problems whatsoever as your colleagues at the NHS are all brilliant footballers... Good luck! What exactly is 'whupping' ? Do I need to bend over for you to 'whup' it? ;o)) Or can we not just kill two birds with one stone and do it in the bath?

Martin Taylor
We just need to change BFG's mindset to pass to us and not you now.

Andrew Little (Corker)
Pass to us??? BFGs throw outs were as accurate as my memory when i drank a full bottle sambuca

Dave Atkinson
Hmm, that was rather like being bitch-slapped by a small child......

Andrew Little (Corker) outside Brunton Park, 2007-05-08
Hiya Dave, are you ready for the Big Match next week?

Dave Atkinson
Big Match? It may be the big match to you guys, but it is just a match to us. Oh, and I see they finally replaced you as 'keeper after you let in 14 goals in three games.... my life may revolve around the soccer (both teams) at the moment, but I want to win every game - not just one!

Pre-Match discussions within The Separatists

Martin Taylor
Starting with me and Dave K at the back with James Dunlop and Rich Barrow in mid-field with Jordan up front. Oh, and big Dave in-between the sticks. I've had to make the hard decision to drop Christian, but he will agree this is a game that we need the big boot of Jarvo to scare and damage their attack.

Subs
   Richard McGregor
   Steve Jarvis

This time we need to make sure that the team don't just watch Jordan and Rich do all the work and support them in attack. The two subs are only allowed to swap with players from the same position, so Rich McGregor can only swap with the forward and midfield and then Steve Jarvis can only swap with Dave and I.

This should be a game that we can win as Dave A and I know how they play, as long as we tackle hard and play fair we should have no problems. The keep rarely dives, so plenty of well placed low shots into the corners. They try to play with pace in their passing, so if we disrupt that then we will have the advantage.

No game is easy, we have to deserve every point that comes our way and tonight will be hard because of the history between some players.

Post-Match

Christian Van Tilburg
sorry boyz, but i even say it on the film 'nobody is talking' and this was about 2 minutes into the game. We seemed to kick off before all our guys were on the pitch in the second half.

Dave Atkinson
Very, very poor. This is another game we should have won. Every game this season we've been able to say something has improved from the previous game, but not last night. It was even worse than against Calder Foods, and this was supposed to be about as strong as our team gets!!

Watch the video, they mark us tight the majority of the time and we do not. There is very little talking, and this does include me as frustration got the better of me at times. We are pulled out of position easily. We are pushed off the ball easily. A lot of the time, we were getting the ball to their penalty arc too slowly, allowing them to get defenders back, whilst we were slow getting back ourselves.

We must score more goals - one per game will not cut it. Although I must start keeping clean sheets, too.

Their goals - the first one was a pass to a guy unmarked on our left and the second was an unlucky rebound off the post which hit me as I dived and went in. However, the second goal did come from them appealing for a penalty which led to our defenders seeming to let them have a shot.

This is our first season, and a bonus one at that as we didn't expect to get in so quickly. However, we must improve if we are going to do well next season. We have six games left, but we should really be getting all the basics right by now. There is not going to be an easy game for us this season, so let us concentrate and improve. Individually, we had better players than the Corkers, but they played as a team and were as a group more willing to go in hard for the ball.

We will win games in this league, but only if we start playing as hard and committed as the other teams do. 6 games left this season, and then a couple of months off. We have to get this right - and quickly. We don't want to be the whipping boys again next season, do we?

On the plus side (I knew I could find one) we aren't getting hammered in every game, but there are some tough teams to come. We really must start scoring more than one goal per game, though, and the way to do this is talking to each other and making space to receive passes.

A bit of a rant there, apologies........
