The result of genetic experiments, Dave is a hybrid of Human, Gorilla and Cat DNA. This accounts for his large size, vaguely human form and also his surprising agility. Some people place his good goalkeeping record on the fact that he fills a larger proportion of the goal than most of the other 'keepers.

Primarily a Rugby Union player (tight head prop forward) in his youth, Dave came to soccer in his early twenties when he moved to Carlisle. Through the 1990s and into the new millennium, Dave has played in many 'small soccer' sessions and teams, including Our Lady Catholic Church in the Carlisle Christian Football League and Crown Corkers in the Carlisle Astro Soccer Sixes league.

In the early part of 2007 Dave volunteered to research entering an NHS team into the Carlisle Astro Soccer Sixes league which would come from the 'Friday Footballers', who mostly worked in IT within various Cumbrian NHS organisations. Once sufficient numbers had been identified, a request was made and we were surprised to get in at the first attempt.

Dave himself feels that in this league he will usually concede fewer than 2 goals per game, and in his last season with Crown Corkers only conceded 16 goals over 11 games.
