cufconline> Not many here yet...
cufconline> Perhaps all the phone lines are down ??
>> petertelford has joined channel #XC.1228116
[kynson] Oh, only Al here. I'm at my Mum's, setting my brother's PC to
- Windows 95 and Dixons' Freeserve Internet Access.
[kynson] Hi Pete !-)
[petertelford] Type HEREgood morning
cufconline> Where are you typing from Pete ?
[petertelford] Burlington Vermont USA
[kynson] I'm at Keswick today.
cufconline> Any storm damage in Keswick ?
[petertelford] Bet its not as cold as it is here
[petertelford] Storm damage?
[kynson] Bad.
cufconline> Bad storm last night
[petertelford] Cos we got a point at Rochdale
[kynson] There are hoardings and canopies down everywhere and part of the
- wall of the railway bridge on London Road is blown over as well.
cufconline> Slates off roofs, fences down that sorta thing..
[petertelford] The Gods paying back for robbery
cufconline> Luckily phone lines still seem to work
[kynson] The elec seems a bit iffy in Keswick this morning.
[kynson] So, Peter Beardsley is definitely not coming now, then.
[petertelford] The Moot hall blown down too?
cufconline> It seems not...
[kynson] Not that we know of - I haven't been into town yet.
[petertelford] Wots he playing at ...
[kynson] Don't know - doesn't seem to bne a hard decision to make.
cufconline> I think Fuller & Knighton got sick of waiting for him to make
- his mind up
cufconline> I havent heard of any other offers
[kynson] That was what was said on Radio Cumbria yesterday, apprently.
[petertelford] Hell end up at Donny as someone else suggested
[kynson] Oh, I emailed the club on Xmas Eve with the request for them to
- join us in the Chat Room.
[petertelford] And....
[kynson] Nothing back yet.
cufconline> Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer...
[petertelford] shame ive got a few questions to ask
[kynson] Well, maybe we'll hear something this week. There is snow on the
- tops when I drove back to Keswick this morning.
[petertelford] should ask the list for questions to ask on their behalf
[kynson] Good idea.
[kynson] Not that we know of - I haven't been into town yet.

[kynson] Good idea.
[petertelford] ones that are printable
[kynson] Hehehe
cufconline> Depends on whether MK agrees to appear
[petertelford] did either of you go yesterday
cufconline> Not me
[kynson] I'll put a request to the list for questions.
[kynson] Nor me - I was here at Keswick rebuilding my brother's PC
[petertelford] how do we know if he has anyway
[kynson] He is now michael@kynson.org.uk
[kynson] Has What?
[petertelford] if he says hes here but its not him
[petertelford] back in a min
cufconline> Well - simply give him a special user-id to use
[kynson] Well, we just have to take their word for it.
cufconline> If you send a user-id by email nobody else should know about
- it..
[kynson] True. We'll have to see what their response is. Failing their
- presence in the Chat Room, we could send the questions by email.
cufconline> True. I think CUFC are about as technically advanced as the N &
- S, though :(
[kynson] Shame.
[kynson] We could always give them a hand.
[petertelford] ok back
cufconline> I'm sure they have at least one Net-connected PC at BP
[kynson] Unless that email connection is at the Knighton household
[petertelford] its about minus 5 here this morning , was minus 8 yesterday
[kynson] Wow.
[kynson] It is quite mild here, but (as I said) there is snow on the tops.
[petertelford] no snow yet but its expected later today or tomorrow
[petertelford] theyre a bit worried at the ski resort
[kynson] Apparently the elec is off down at Aspatria, so my mum has just
- said.
[petertelford] is this it , no more supporters today?
cufconline> Chris McFarlane was expected..
[kynson] Doesn't look like it - but then it is Xmas. Chris usually arrives
- about now.
[petertelford] hes the one who told me to go on last night to get my id
cufconline> He should have had a stress-free Xmas after the bombing was
- called off
[petertelford] whys that
[petertelford] where is he
cufconline> He is in Cyprus
[kynson] Aye. I was supposed to be here last night but I ended up going back
- up to Carlisle and going to Buskers with lodger-mate Alan.
[kynson] 200 miles west of Iraq.
cufconline> Possible target for Saddams stray scuds
[kynson] Aye, I hear Saddam is a Burnley supporter.
[petertelford] depends which part i suppose , both fairly dodgy
[petertelford] Stan Ternents his godson
cufconline> I remember Ternent getting sent off when I used to watch him at
- BP
cufconline> A rare event in those days :)
[kynson] Did you hear about the Burnley fan found in Iraq with a piece of
- sandpaper? He thought it was a map.
[petertelford] but he was good at the back , he always had them well
- organised
cufconline> Replace "Burnley" with your favourite hate-team :)
[kynson] Aye :-)
[petertelford] only 91 more jokes to tell
[kynson] A truck crashed into a house in Preston yeasterday causing £2000
- worth of improvements.
[petertelford] send them in to hit the baaaa
cufconline> Or RIOA ....
[petertelford] contribution from the list
[kynson] They are on my website - I've said they can nick anything off it.
[petertelford] rioa?
[kynson] Reeves is offside again - my website.
cufconline> Dave's site
[petertelford] ok
[kynson] Thanks.
cufconline> Xmas brings a drastic cut in web traffic normally - not so bad
- this year
[kynson] Are you down tomorrow, Al?
cufconline> Should be
[kynson] Fancy a drink in the East Stand before kick-off?
cufconline> If I can find you
[kynson] I'll stand at the mini club shop, by the bin, with a pasty and a
- drink.
[petertelford] i tried to keep up with the latest scores yesterday , but sky
- online were slow with the updates and i cant get radio 5 here ..... yet
cufconline> OK - I'll be on the lookout
[kynson] There was one good online site, which one was it?
[kynson] Radio 5 is online, isn't it?
[petertelford] is it , ill have to look
cufconline> Try http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio5/
[kynson] Maybe we could persuade Radio Cumbria to do a real audio feed.
[petertelford] who are we playing tomorrow
cufconline> Nice idea - I cant do RealAudio on my Pipex webspace though
[kynson] Cambridge
[kynson] I can on Demon, but it is the time factor. It would be better if we
- could persuade Radio Cumbria/
cufconline> Being part of the Beeb, they at least have the technology to do
- it
[kynson] David Arnison tried it for while. Did anyone listen?
[petertelford] would they do it with so many here to tune in
cufconline> I heard a bit of his Wembley highlights
[kynson] Probably not, there would only be a dozen or so, I would think.
cufconline> With publicity on the list and maybe on the N & S you could get
- more than a dozen I think
cufconline> Not to mention R Cumbria of course
[kynson] Actually, Knighton's ban is on _radio_ commentaries.......
[kynson] at Brunton Park
cufconline> I thought that had been lifted
[kynson] Has it?
cufconline> Somebody at work listens to matches
[kynson] Ah, I thought it was still in place and R.Cumbria only had away
- games.
cufconline> Can't say for sure as I am always at the home games myself of
- course
[kynson] same here.
cufconline> I'm pretty sure the Hartlepool game was on
[kynson] Back to Beardsley, I do feel sorry for those that bought a
- "Beardsley" CUFC top
cufconline> Mugs perhaps ??
cufconline> I don't mean Beardsley Mugs :)
[petertelford] says radio 5 isnt available over the internet
[kynson] Hmm, a Peter Beardsley mug would put me right off my coffee.
cufconline> Too bad - you can get Virgin
[petertelford] you could use it as a false teeth holder
cufconline> Well his own "mug" isn't exactly a picture :(
[kynson] Ah well, Peter, we'll have to try and find an up to date site. what
- about teletext?
cufconline> www.teletext.co.uk ???
[petertelford] ok ill look
[kynson] Not sure. They may have the full pages online.
[kynson] Oh no, all three Atkinson brothers in the same room now!
[kynson] Nop damage to the Moot Hall.
[kynson] (drop that p out, please !-)
cufconline> Just had a look at teletext - sports headlines "STEWART TON
- CAN'T DISGUISE ENGLAND FAILINGS"
cufconline> sorry that should be "SHAMBLES"
[kynson] Huh?
[kynson] Is that the BBc ones?
[petertelford] thanks for depressing me
[kynson] Look at that snow outside here!!
[kynson] Alastair, which page was that headline?
cufconline> That was the healine at www.teletext.co.uk
cufconline> Here's another "ONE DEAD, TWO MISSING IN GALES"
[kynson] Can't see a similar headline on the BBC Teletext.
[petertelford] i met some lads at manchester airport who were going out to
- oz , but wishing them luck didnt help
cufconline> This might be ITV Teletext
[kynson] Hang on then.....
cufconline> 270 all out Aus 59/2 was close of play score
[kynson] They don't seem to have the same headlines, so the online ones
- don't seem to be kept up to date with the TV ones.
[petertelford] sky is quite up to date i think
cufconline> Interesting --- the weather forecast for Carlisle seems a bit
- off, too
[kynson] Gales of up to 100 mph have left a trail of destructions across
- Cumbria with power cuts and trees blocking roads. Fire services attended
- over 90 calls. Worst affected areas were Wetheral, Carlisle which was
- without power and cut off by debris on the roads.
[petertelford] for the weather forcast here you put the post code in , it
- gives the weather and the news headlines
cufconline> I just selected Carlisle from a drop-down list on Teletext
[petertelford] thats with the msn page
[kynson] I'll have to have a look at this. I haven't done much surfing of
- late.
cufconline> They say sleet in the evening with max temp 3 deg C for Carlisle
- - sunny in the morning :(
cufconline> Totally wrong as far as I can see !
[kynson] What about for the match?
[kynson] It is quite heavy sleet here at the moment.
[petertelford] with the way the winds blowing theyll have to change the
- goals so they play from the east stand to the players tunnel
cufconline> There's not that much coverage on the site - read my match
- report I just posted to this site!
[kynson] It is always wide enough for the pitch to run that way!
cufconline> Let's hope the East Stand hasn't blown down
[kynson] I'll have a look later.
[kynson] No chance of that. I hope.
[petertelford] yes we could defend , only playing in the one half of the
- field
cufconline> Apparently we were crap in the first half at Rochdale when the
- wind was behind us
[kynson] Anyway, I'll have to go - mother has lunch nearly ready. Al, email
- me any more transcript please.
[kynson] See ya.
[petertelford] bye , have a nice day yalll
>> kynson has left channel #XC.1228116
cufconline> See ya Pete
[petertelford] u going too
cufconline> I'm off too - need to inspect my fence I think half of it blew
- down last night :(
[petertelford] ok try to get on next week if i can
[petertelford] bye
cufconline> Bye
