kynson> Greetings
kynson> MFAW? I'm dave atkinson.
[MFAW] Its Malcolm Fawcett here. How did the match chat go yesterday?
kynson> Ah, hi Malcolm, the match chat was great. We had a few Brighton fans
- in and it all worked quite well.
kynson> The log is available now, if you want to check it later. Lacey
- rambled a bit in his commentary, so it was hard to keep my commmnetary to
- the chat room fluent.
[MFAW] It was a brilliant game. Those Brighton fans must have been sick!
kynson> They were, but to be fair to them they carried themselves off well
- and no vitriol was thrown. We are doing it again on Tuesday.
TO MFAW> Oh, if you highlight a name to the right there and check private,
- no one else will see the message, but it will appear in the log unless you
- ask for it not to.

kynson> we're not expecting too many in today, Alastair said he wouldn't be
- here and some may be drained after yesterday's excitement.
[MFAW] We have a blind member in the London Branch, David Ross, and
- yesterday Ian Jardine had to give him a running commentary of the game. Its
- a pity we couldn't have linked him up to the chat writer as he actually
- managed to do a very good job.
kynson> I was doing the typing in, and I got a half time and full time
- report from Phil Jones on his mobile.
kynson> My brother Bob was telling me that Nigel Pearson spent the whole
- morning on Sky's Soccer AM today

[XTRAGAZ] Hi
kynson> Wow, new members coming in left, right and centre today and
- yesterday !-)
[MFAW] I haven't tried these chat rooms before and I just thought I'd see if
- my pc was capable. I take it you were listening to the game on Radio
- Cumbria. What was Pearson saying on Sky?
kynson> Not sure, my brother just called me on his mobile to tell me, didn't
- say what was said./
[XTRAGAZ] Who are you 2?
[MFAW] Malcolm Fawcett
kynson> I'm dave Atkinson, of Reeves is offside again, the e-fanzine
kynson> you are?
>> paulclements has joined channel #XC.1228116
[XTRAGAZ] Gary, first timer!!
[paulclements] where is chris ?
kynson> He probably had trouble logging in again, took 15 minutes yesterday
[paulclements] ah
[XTRAGAZ] I wont be here for long
[paulclements] ah
kynson> Why not, mate?
[paulclements] has there been any more feedback from Saturday....
[XTRAGAZ] Well, basically my father will boo!!!!
kynson> The general feeling was that it went very well for us, Brighton fans
- thought t was them playing badly.
[paulclements] who do Carlisle play next Saturday
[MFAW] The big difference was Paterson's performance in midfield. He ran
- everything.
[XTRAGAZ] I havent been to Brunton Park for ages, has the waterworks end
- been re-done yet?
[paulclements] I've only seen the team once this season but i thought
- Paterson looked good....
kynson> I've just got to log off for 5 minutes, my lodger wants to use the
- phone. Someone try to copy what I miss, for the log.
[paulclements] mfaw....I take it thats Malky Fawcett ?

kynson> Gary - The waterworks hasn't been done yet, it has just been left
- and is used for storage now.
[MFAW] Probably. I certainly remember going to Aldershot when we drew
- there.
[paulclements] Some guy from the London branch spoke to me that night at the
- game..smallish with dark hair
kynson> That sounds a bit like Phil Jones.
kynson> is he in the London Branch
[paulclements] He seemed to be the organiser...he was wondering if i wanted
- to join
kynson> How old?
[paulclements] about 30'odd
[MFAW] It was probably Ian Jardine. Our chairman. He tends to amuse
- himself by chatting to fans at away games and trying to sign them up. He
- chatted up Brightwell's girlfriend at Peterborough when he found out she
- came from Chesham
kynson> Could be Phil, although I think he is only 27ish
kynson> Ah, right.
kynson> So, how many of you were there yesterday?
[paulclements] I didn't join
[MFAW] Only about 20-30. A poor turn out really. Lots of excuses from the
- usual travellers.
[paulclements] Did you have a good sing-song ?
kynson> The Brighton mailing list comments from Chris McFarlane included a
- reference to being outsung by one coachload of CUFC fans. I thought they
- were exagerating how few were there !-)

[cyprochris] Hello Malcolm - good day out then?
kynson> Damn, accidently closed netscape then !
[paulclements] Sumo scored a wondergoal with a 30 yard dribble !!
[cyprochris] Actually Paul, we decorated the master bedroom last night - in
- a funny shade of white
[MFAW] Brilliant and we should have had a penalty when Dobie was felled in
- the first half.
[paulclements] geed lad
[cyprochris] Dave - maybe your PC should upgraxe its user!!!
kynson> Ooh !!! There was some doubt from Phil about the claim,
[cyprochris] yes - but so should they?
[cyprochris] Anybody going on teus?
[cyprochris] Tues sorry
[paulclements] Malcolm...have you been at Upperby Sheds recently
kynson> No one I know, although a few might after Saturday's result.
[cyprochris] LOL
[paulclements] what doed LOL mean ??
[cyprochris] laugh out loud
kynson> loads of laughs
[MFAW] Well I was only ninety yards away but it was as clear as anything
- I've ever seen. I have spotted a train for over thirty years!
kynson> Hahaha :-)
[paulclements] tee hee
[cyprochris] Is Al dead then?
kynson> Phil reckened they should have had their claim from Whitehead's
- shove in their player's back
[MFAW] Sorry should have read 'haven't spotted a train '
[cyprochris] Thay could have it - we'd still win by the odd goal in 5
[paulclements] Malcolm....do you remember Barnet in 1991...we lost 4-2 ?
[MFAW] No, I was a lot closer to that one - it was never a valid claim
[cyprochris] Malcolm - did u read the Brighton view of the match i posted?
[MFAW] I haven't seen it yet.
kynson> I will never forget the York game when we conceded 3 in the dying
- minutes.
[MFAW] There was a lot of talk about that on the terraces
[cyprochris] reckoned dobies goal was 'a hoeful ball into the centre cicle
- from finney'
[cyprochris] 3-1 up with 6 minutes left
[paulclements] Chris man..the Dobster is class and you know it !!
[MFAW] No it was a brilliantly weighted pass which dropped at his feet and
- caught Brighton cold.
[cyprochris] can anyone remeber at Brenford last season when some idiot kept
- saying 'don't piss about, remeber york'
[MFAW] It was probably Knighton
[cyprochris] paul - i agree he played well, but i was laughing at the
- brighton report
kynson> a new battle cry ; "Remember York!"
[cyprochris] it was me, just wondered if anybody remembered it
[paulclements] 3 in the last 6 minutes...thats nothing my team once scored
- 15 in the second half of a scottish cup tie
kynson> Ah, but that is in Sctoland ;-)
>> NickS has joined channel #XC.1228116
[cyprochris] Aye, but anybody can score that many in scotland
[paulclements] So is Carlisle
kynson> Hi Nick
[MFAW] When we were 3-1 up with a minute to go one lad was asking surely we
- can't lose this now. How's that for confidence!
>> NickS has left channel #XC.1228116
>> NickS has joined channel #XC.1228116
[cyprochris] hello Nick - who might you be?
kynson> We're jocks and we know we are !-)
[paulclements] guid lads
[cyprochris] Brighton reports keep referring to us as jocks
[NickS] I am Nick off the list and live in Mansfield
[cyprochris] And your name?
[paulclements] Do you feel as English as a southern shandy swiller ?
kynson> I have never felt too upset about the reference to us being Jocks,
- but then I do have a Scottish grandmother.
[paulclements] Dave man...are you any good at football...get in touch with
- Craig Brown....
[cyprochris] Nick - what id your surname?
[MFAW] Having lived in Aberdeen - I never want to be likened to a jock.
[NickS] I know I have come in late but was the game yesterday as good as the
- scoreline?
[NickS] Snowdon
[MFAW] Better. We stuffed them
[cyprochris] You mean you missed Dave ' Barry Davies' Atkinson?
[NickS] and is pearson going to do the business?
kynson> I remember the Tottenham game when some lads were chanting "where's
- your foreskin now" and laughing, but when they chanted "jocks and you know
- you are" these lads completely lost their rag!
[paulclements] Jonathan fuller did the business in his pants..apparently
kynson> Barry Davies? more like captain hook, with some of my appalling
- typing yesterday.
[cyprochris] Where were u sitting at WHL?
[MFAW] I have to go now and get some breakfast. Nice talking to you. See
- you again on Tuesday?
[cyprochris] TATA
>> MFAW has left channel #XC.1228116
kynson> 3 of us went down and we were right up in the corner alongside the
- Tottenham boxes, chatting with a WPC who supports Aresenal.
[NickS] Me to just dropped in to see if this works so shall be back on
- Tuesday
>> NickS has left channel #XC.1228116
[paulclements] Dave man...is there a realistic chance that Aspinall will
- return to BP
[cyprochris] I was right at the front and got friendly with a gorgeous
- blonde bit
kynson> PAul, just saw your comment about am I any good at playing. I play
- in goal and I am OK, but I am a Big Fat Bastard.
[paulclements] yee fat gyet
kynson> Not sure about Aspinall coming back, back of the Evening News had a
- report saying that he wanted Knighton to go and get him.
[paulclements] I think we should go and get him
[paulclements] Paterson & Aspinall looks good to me
kynson> He alsways tried and he was actually fitter towards the end of his
- time with us.
[cyprochris] And Blackmore - not a bad midfield
[paulclements] Is that happening ??
[cyprochris] According to Teamtalk - so probably not
kynson> We need some bite in the midfield, but I always shook my head at
- Aspinall and Prokas fighting to see who gets the most cards in one season.
[cyprochris] Any idea who is the Ed on that thing?
[paulclements] Didn't Blackmore once get done for some sort of sexual thing
- in Wales ??
kynson> I have had the odd email from them, can't remember offhand.
[cyprochris] Haven't most Taffs had that?
[cyprochris] He is effing useless - apparently Dave Bowman played yesterday
[paulclements] thats not nice boyo
kynson> I still think that we should chant "if you're proud to be a Cumbrian
- shag a sheep, baa baa" now and again !-)
[cyprochris] Oh, and we get 20% of the total Matty sell on
kynson> £4.5million to Newcastle. Confirmed yet?
[paulclements] Chris...what are you talking about...Dave Bowman ??
[cyprochris] Yep - it maes the opposition fans wonder what to sing at us -
- We're jocks and we know we are
[paulclements] Dave Bowman is a turd who plays for Raith Rovers
[cyprochris] Teamtalk says 'Dave Bowman'
[cyprochris] Not as far as i know - will check Palace and Geordie sites
- later
[cyprochris] I wrote a note to teamtalk saying matty sell on was 20% over
- 2m, and they still ran it, so i said if they don't believe me, heck other
- sites
[paulclements] do southern shandy drinkers treat cumbrians like the English
- would the Scots ??
kynson> Yes.
[paulclements] good
kynson> Having said that, everytime I go to London it just confirms in my
- mind that I would _never_ want to live and work there!
[cyprochris] Cypriuts treat us like kings - particularly if we are spending
- money
[paulclements] All cypriots are good for is giving Greece 12 points in the
- Eurovision song Contest
kynson> ooh !-)
[cyprochris] Cockneys are ok, but they have a superiority thing, they think
- its all farms and 2 men villages north of Brum
[cyprochris] paul - yep - thats a bit poloitical
kynson> funny, we think they don't what happens to us south of Penrith !
[cyprochris] ????
kynson> er, that should read "...don't care what ...."
[cyprochris] don't what? don't know? don't care?
[paulclements] Do cumbrians prefer the scots or cockneys ?
[cyprochris] thanks
kynson> Scots, for me.
[cyprochris] scots without doubt
[paulclements] guid lads...cuid mil falte
[cyprochris] In the forces, the cockneys think they are superior, but don't
- dislike us
kynson> in order, my favourite accents on a woman are soft versions of :
- North east England, Irish, Scottish. I hate Scouse and Brummie.
[cyprochris] the jocks hate everybody, but only cos they feel inferior
[paulclements] One thing scots hate is being called jocks !!!!!!!!!!!!!
[cyprochris] NE England - i agree with you there. I also like a bit of
- southern, not common like cockney, but well spoke, oxford or somat
kynson> Have you seen uk.local.cumbria newsgroup that Alastair set up? quite
- a good banter in there
[cyprochris] They hate jockanese too
[cyprochris] still can't get that
kynson> can you not link to the Demon news server?
[cyprochris] Cypriotnet only get a few newsgroups
[paulclements] Dave....we were meant to be playing QOS om saturday...they
- have a few ex-CUFC players ...Craig Potts...Marc Cleeland....Derek Townsley
- (he is actually quite good)
[cyprochris] how?
kynson> Only seen Marc play, he was quite good. Actually, I think I played
- 5-a-side against him in the Carlisle Christian Football league a couple of
- years ago.
[cyprochris] id he take the piss?
[paulclements] Townsley is a postie in Carlise..he's about 6'4 with a pony
- tail
kynson> No, one of the teams had the odd Carlisle youth player playing for
- them, but we still managed to beat them most of the time. It is hard to
- score past a Big Fat Bastard like me :-)
[paulclements] I'm off lads....speak to you on Tuesday
kynson> Bye Paul.
>> paulclements has left channel #XC.1228116
[cyprochris] Did u go out last night?
kynson> Well, looks a but quiet after all the excitement of yesterday,
- doesn't it?
kynson> No, with the 'flu still lingering I stayed in. I want to get back to
- work tomorrow.
[cyprochris] Yep - should we make this the last sunday one unless we have a
- big game?
kynson> Nah, it is still good for the aussies, so we'll keep it going for a
- while and see how the demand goes.
kynson> Mind you, where are they?
[cyprochris] help
kynson> Help?
[cyprochris] My missus was chasing me around the floor with the hoover

kynson> shit, I scared him off! he's back, he's gone, he's back!!
[cyprochris] I asked her to say somat, she says 'hello'
kynson> OK :-)
[petertelford] Type HERE Hi sorry Im a bit late
kynson> How's it going?
[cyprochris] Peter, you are on and off like an on and offy thing
[petertelford] Its 7 am I overslept
[cyprochris] OVER slept, i got up at 12.45pm
[petertelford] Were covered in snow too
kynson> he was in, he was out, he was in, he was out, he was in. Hmm.
- reminds me of something.......
[cyprochris] Yep, me last night
kynson> ooh !-)
[petertelford] Someone doing the hokey cokey
[cyprochris] thats why i wasn't drinking. We are going for 1st instalment
- of Chrislet
kynson> I was getting worried yesterday afternoon that when I left the chat
- room for phil's report that it would be full and I wouldn't get back in!
[cyprochris] reched 12 tops
[petertelford] For what its worth I thought yesterdays experiment went well
[cyprochris] Me too
kynson> Good luck, my brother will be making me an uncle again in September
[cyprochris] We have more time to plan now, so we can probably get more
- reporters
[cyprochris] cheers mate
[petertelford] Itll get fuller as we climb our way up , then youll all need
- season tickets
kynson> Have you checked out the log? it is nearly twice the size of any
- previous log!
[petertelford] Thats your fault
[cyprochris] Did u use any of mine, or were you ok?
kynson> Aye, I did transfer Lacey's ramblings quite well!
kynson> We had the same material, Chris.
[petertelford] If youd called the teams C and B , would have saved time
[cyprochris] Can't have, I missed the last 10 mins of 1st half
kynson> I may do that on Tuesday, plus say CGK and BGK for the goalies.
[cyprochris] good point
[petertelford] no i dont think thats needed its obvious
kynson> I'll have to work on some abbreviations.
[cyprochris] We could work out some sort of code and put it on the list
kynson> I'll think about it today and post some to you two first.
[cyprochris] OK
[cyprochris] cf - corner flag - no thats a shit one
kynson> how about L for corner?
[cyprochris] L?
[petertelford] its probably a good job we won , it made the whole thing more
- worthwhile , otherwise if wed got stuffed the brighton fans would have been
- on there own
[cyprochris] I see, a graphical rep of the corner
kynson> well, it looks like a corner, doesn't it ?
[cyprochris] How would you do edge of box?
[petertelford] corn ...
kynson> I think for you guys away from a radio, it probably wasn't too bad.
- I was getting quite excited at times and had to remember to keep typing!
[cyprochris] T could be half way line next to touch
kynson> # for penalty box?
[cyprochris] it wa superb - but the wife was complainign about the noise
- when we scored
[cyprochris] # is good
[cyprochris] o or 0 for centre circle
kynson> ___ for goal line ?
[petertelford] if you dont mind Dave it was fine yesterday , youll forget
- sometimes in the heat of the moment
[cyprochris] yep
kynson> O would be better.
[cyprochris] i think when he gets the hang of it, it would be better.
- Shoulfd we put it to vote on list?
kynson> Yes.
[cyprochris] WHaddyathink Pete - a vote?
[petertelford] The Blue Army will ask what everything means
[petertelford] ok
kynson> @ for a pass, @_ for a cross and so on?
[cyprochris] Yes, but we could ask them if they like the idea, give an
- exmple or two, and mybe ask them for ideas of their owm
[cyprochris] Maybe add 2 or 3 each game, and post a complete list just
- before the games
[petertelford] For me it was perfect as it was , just An abreviation of the
- teams
[cyprochris] Maybe you're right, but it is no hassle to experiment, we can
- always go back if it doesn't work
kynson> It was simply that at times I had trouble getting across as quick as
- I could what was happening.
[cyprochris] We'll ask the list what they think
kynson> & for tackle?
[petertelford] ok like crnr ... or fk
kynson> now that looks like swearing :-)
[cyprochris] My mate who was supposed to be helping kept asking to flick to
- div 1 for Huddersfield - he was a hindrance
[petertelford] no f
kynson> Aye, FK for free kick works.
[petertelford] f**k is swearing
kynson> :-)
kynson> Actually, I'll keep everything in lower case, as that aids quicker
- typing. That includes names.
[cyprochris] as long as we tell everybody what it means beforehand, no prob.
- Even a slip would be understandable in the heat of it - cant see ny
- complaints being made
kynson> f.k. for freekick
[cyprochris] ok
[petertelford] yes but it should be explained by someone else , not by Dave
- doing the commentary
[cyprochris] I cant remember where this idea is from, i think a game I had
- eons ago. A grid with a pitch on it. Like battleships. Say the name of
- the square possibly?
[petertelford] its a good idea that when someone joins that theyre told the
- latest score
kynson> well, i think that we have enough to work on for now, and i haven't
- had breakfast yet. So I am off to keep myself as a BFB in another 10 minutes
[petertelford] it was from the first radio broadcast on the bbc
kynson> Aye, I tried to keep an eye out for new joiners to insert the score,
- maybe chris could do that next time?
[cyprochris] Oh Peter - I looked at the log yesterday - i see what you mean
- it did loo lkie i was bollocking you at times, but its ok 1 or 2 butting in,
- but if 1 starts, everybody will want to and it could get silly. Apologies
- fir sounding abrupt
[petertelford] of the cup final i think
[petertelford] Its ok , I put you down too
[cyprochris] i could do that Dave - no prob
kynson> The gird for commentaries was when they first did radio
- commentaries.
kynson> Well I could start each line with where on the pitch they are,
- according to the grid.
[cyprochris] I didn't know that - i got the idea from a board game i had
- where the ball went up 3 left 3 etc
[petertelford] you wont have time
kynson> Who?
[cyprochris] Dave - how will you know where it is?
[petertelford] and they rarely say on the radio
kynson> you get a rough feel from the radio commentary, but then I suppose
- those in the chat room would havethe same rough idea as me anyway.
[petertelford] you wnt have time
[cyprochris] By the time you convert what they say tothe grid and type it
- in, you could be well behind. Perhaps my idea is shite aftyer all
[petertelford] yes , like upfield etc
[cyprochris] So is it agreed we scrap the grid idea?
kynson> well, no doubt we will evolve a method over time.
[cyprochris] Peter?
kynson> we could always come back to it if I get better !-)
[cyprochris] ok
[petertelford] cee u cee me is the next step
[cyprochris] ??
[petertelford] video camera job
[petertelford] the one youve got in the bedroom chris?
kynson> well, I'm off now, send me a copy of anything else you guys chat
- about and I'll see you on Tuesday. we could talk earlier in the chat room
- about the commentary ideas once I've emailed them to you.
[cyprochris] How the hell would we organise that or are taking the P?
[petertelford] ok im going back to bed too
[cyprochris] TATA
kynson> Well, we could email each other.
>> cyprochris has left channel #XC.1228116
