The topic is: Carlisle United
kynson> Kosh, do I feel rough :-(
[cyprochris] Teamtalk says we were just outclassed
kynson> we were
[cyprochris] Hello Dave
[cufconline] We had one half decent spell at the start of 2nd half,
- thereafter poor
kynson> Hi al, hi chris
[cufconline] Hi there Dave
>> MFAW has joined channel #XC.1228116
[cyprochris] Phil is coming in today
[cyprochris] SOis Malcolm
[cufconline] Was he in yesterday ?
[cyprochris] No
[MFAW] How was the game yesterday?
kynson> bad
[cyprochris] Not while i was in, i didn't get in until3.20 - bloody computer
- was playing up
[cufconline] Poor, Malc
[cyprochris] What i don't understand is last wek everybody was saying how
- goo dwe were, then this week, Chris Kearton says Finney should retire etc,
- how can we go that bad in 7 days
[cyprochris] My mate has the money and has buggered off back to england
kynson> The Carlisle United disease.
[cufconline] Inconsistency, I suppose - perhaps we are turning into an
- 'away' side
[MFAW] There's no doubt that we seem to play better away even if we don't
- win
kynson> Even the Scunthorpe United fans won yesterday. The normally vocal
- East Stand bunch were quite subdued. Maybe they were all hung over like I
- was.
[cufconline] 9 of the next 12 games are scheduled to be away, folks
[cyprochris] All games are away to me (sympathy request in disguise)
[cufconline] Yes, Scunny had a vocal following
kynson> Ahhh.
[MFAW] Doesn't bode well for Tuesday night
[cyprochris] its ok, we are away then
[cufconline] Hopefully Scunny will be concentrating on the league from now
- on ...
[MFAW] But we don't win
kynson> No, but then that is th funny thing with the AWS, sometimes it
- brings out a good performance
[cufconline] Did anyone get a chat log from yesterday ??
[cyprochris] don't ask
kynson> I got the bit from where I joined.
>> Jeffsteel has joined channel #XC.1228116
[cufconline] Oh well, there was nothing memorable to report anyway :(
kynson> Jeff!!
[cufconline] Hello, It's Ozzie Jeff!
[cyprochris] my computer didn't stay working long enoughto get a log
[cyprochris] Greetings Jeff
[cyprochris] What time is it in Oz?
[Jeffsteel] G'day from Melbourne!
[cufconline] Ahh the joys of running a 486 ;-)
[cyprochris] sarcy git
[cufconline] G'day cobba
kynson> Chris - get yourself a Linux system, mate :-)
[Jeffsteel] 22.07 (sounds similar to the England score in Sydney tonight!
[cyprochris] Linux?
kynson> ohhh:-)
[Jeffsteel] Who was at the game yesterday?
[cyprochris] So you're almost up to bed then
[cufconline] Me
kynson> Linux is UNIX for the PC, a better OS for less powerful systems
[cufconline] Unless youre a computer whizz, steer clear of Linux, Chris
[cyprochris] a replacement for Windows?
[Jeffsteel] cufconline it sounds AWFUL!!
[cufconline] The game you mean ??
[cyprochris] Are you two computer whizz's then
kynson> Yes, it is a bitch - I had it on my home PC for a while for practce
- and we use it at work
kynson> I do IT Support for a living. Not that the NHS pays much.....
[cyprochris] so you are a whizz then
kynson> Nyeeeaaar
[cufconline] I am the IT manager at Mitchell Dryers in Denton Holme
[Jeffsteel] What do you guys think of Pearson so far -I I've been out of
- touch
[MFAW] Fascinating stuff! Bye bye
[cyprochris] he's ok - but too early to tell really
kynson> He seems to be in control, but the players need a bit more of the
- stick, I think
>> MFAW has left channel #XC.1228116
[cufconline] I'm backing Nigel - think he's got the pedigree to do the job
[Jeffsteel] Is Knighton still picking the team??
[cyprochris] Think malc was bored of the computer stuff?
kynson> We drove Malcolm away?
[cufconline] He'll be back on Tue night hopefully ;-)
[cyprochris] I think Pearson MUST be picking it - Couzens is in the first 11
[Jeffsteel] Anyway, I've seen some good news for CUFC!
[cyprochris] o on
[cyprochris] And its all gone quiet over there
[Jeffsteel] I raed in 4-4-2 magazine that Hull have a nutty millionaire
- chairman who is even worse than Knighton and is guaranteed to take them all
- the way to the conf!!
[cufconline] Not David Lloyd ? He quit that job
kynson> I have decided - I am getting a mobile phone this month and so I
- will have one for the next home game and I'll call out at half time. I think
- the full time report can probably wait until I get home?
[Jeffsteel] Can't remember the name! BTW, what's the weather like in
- Carlisle today?
kynson> cloudy but nice, here on London Road
[cufconline] A bit of frost overnight but generally better than yesterday
- (v. windy)
[Jeffsteel] My cousin Clive used to live at 245!
kynson> I'm just off London Road, opposite Halfords.
[Jeffsteel] Does Alaister come to these??
[cyprochris] Can't see any any clouds, 24C 75F today here in Limassol
[cufconline] I think the Boxing Day gales brought down a wall near you - at
- the St.Nick's Arms ?
[cyprochris] Alastair is cufconline
[Jeffsteel] I could use a cool day like that Cypro! **lol**
kynson> Yes, I walk past it every night out.
kynson> They still haven't cleared it away. Also, a bit of the railway
- bridge leader wall went down.
[cyprochris] Yes Jeff, but January is our coldest month!!!
[Jeffsteel] Oh, I see! Nice to meet you Alaister! I tried to phone you in
- Carlisle when I was there a few months back but you were gallavanting
- somewhere!
[cyprochris] Was there a train crash in Carlisle yesterday - i heard there
- was but no details at all???
kynson> Has anyone heard a provisional date for the next leg of the AWS,
- should we beat Scnthorpe?
kynson> THE Evening NEws had a headline about a train driver averting a
- disaster.
[cyprochris] Our next match in the AWS after turesday is towards the back
- end of this year I heard, about November
[cufconline] Yes, it was John 'Metty' Metcalfe
kynson> oooooh :-)
[cufconline] I used to be one of his mates when I lived on Lowry Hill
[cyprochris] Lots of injuries?
[cufconline] No
[cufconline] It was on the Settle-Carlisle line. Goods train struck a
- passenger train in a tunnel
kynson> How?
[cyprochris] Thats not what i heard - all i heard was it was Hudderrsfield
- to Carlisle and 22 hurt - thats alll details i had
[cyprochris] bloody hell
[cufconline] A landslide blocked the line
kynson> Ah.
[cufconline] Metty ran down the line and let off a flare, I think
[cyprochris] Is he ok?
[cufconline] He was unhurt AFAIK
kynson> Alastair, what did you think of the performances yesterday? Caig was
- the MotM for me again.
kynson> The rest weren't up to much
[cufconline] Caigy was OK - unfortunately our midfield didn't perform
[cyprochris] Was it 4-3-3 again?
[cufconline] Couzens definitely not fit - he admitted it himself in an
- interview - transcript on this site
kynson> Seemed to be for most of the game, but it kept disintegrating,
- sometimes it seemed to be 4-2-1-1-2 !-(
[cyprochris] He has a major problem with his breatghing according to reports
- though
>> paulclements has joined channel #XC.1228116
[cufconline] Nominally, Pearson likes 4-3-3, a bit like that fat bloke who
- sits in the stand ;-)
[cyprochris] Hi Paul - Dobie was great yesterday yer Big Yin
[paulclements] guid lad
[cufconline] Couzens made it into a 4-1-2-3 at times
kynson> Hi Paul.
[Jeffsteel] Paul Clements - is thoo frae Whitehaven??
[paulclements] howay man......whats going on...how many goals have we scored
- at home this season ??????
[paulclements] jeff man...i'm a jock from Stirling in central scotland.....
kynson> We're jocks and we know we are....
[paulclements] guid lads
[Jeffsteel] OOPS, sorry, I had some corres with a guy called Clements from
- Whitehaven.
[cufconline] We have an Ian Clements from Whitehaven on the list, I believe
[paulclements] ah
[paulclements] ah
[Jeffsteel] Paul, you aren't at Stilrling Uni by any chance?? Ian it was!
[cyprochris] We'll leave Paul to his orgasm
[Jeffsteel] **lol**
[paulclements] no...I went to Napier in Edinburgh ya bam
[cufconline] Were you at a game yesterday Paul ?
[paulclements] yes...Forfar 3 Stirling 3.....we were 3-1 up with 10 minutes
- to go...?^?*?^*??
[Jeffsteel] I can understand that because I watched 'looking after JoJo!
[cufconline] Almost as bad as CUFC at York last season, that
kynson> York ......
[paulclements] with 10 minutes to go I said to my mate 'its only a matter of
- how many'.......doh !!!!
[cyprochris] 3-1 up with 7 minutes to go and we lost 4-3
[cufconline] But we were playing with 10 men ....
[cufconline] No excuse though
[Jeffsteel] What's the standard of football like in the nether regions in
- Scotland? Would CUFC do OK there?
kynson> Yes, but we took the lead with 10 men !
[cufconline] Don't start that argument again, Jeff !!!
[paulclements] ask chris about that
kynson> Ooh, don't ask that question JEff!
kynson> :-)
[Jeffsteel] **RAOFLMAO**
[cufconline] We've done that to death - didnt you see it on the list?
[paulclements] honestly jeff man.....I think they would struggle in the
- Scottish 1st.....
kynson> Anyway, changing the subject. What do we all think for the rest of
- the season? I think if we get it together we could manage mid-table.
[paulclements] howay lads......was it bad yesterday ???
[cyprochris] We would beat Clydebank LOL
[cufconline] You could post that question in uk.sport.football to get a
- *BIG* argument going
[Jeffsteel] Only at the beginning, I've been travelling through NSW for the
- last 3 weeks
[paulclements] not if dobie was playing chris
[cyprochris] Hehe
kynson> Al, do you agree that the shot by Finney across the goal was our
- best chance?
[cyprochris] I think we could also get mid table, but we have to sort it out
- NOW
[cufconline] I can't remember that one - was it first half ?
[Jeffsteel] If Swansea did what they did , why can't CArlisle?
[paulclements] rob scott thingey said that finney should retire.....is this
- a feeling shared by all cufc fans ???
TO cufconline> It is a bit like watching Pavlov's dog - say about CUFC in
- Scotland and Chris and Paul are away :-)
[Jeffsteel] He did have all those great years at Preston! **lol**
[cufconline] I quite like Finney - quite good passer of the ball
[cyprochris] He played his best game v BAHA apparently
[cufconline] Not that Tom Finney joke again :)
[Jeffsteel] In this heat it's thebest I can do!
[paulclements] what was pearsons reaction to the game ??
[cyprochris] How hot Jeff?
kynson> Hard to say, I still think he has it in him. He had a good game up
- front against Brighton and then Pearson stuck him in midfield again.
[Jeffsteel] It's got down to 80F tonight
[cyprochris] 80 - oooohhh
kynson> Phew, what a scorcher, as the Sun would say
[cyprochris] Finney in m/f was that?
kynson> Yes
[Jeffsteel] Nono, Kynson here a scorcher is 110F!! Sorts the men out from
- the boys!
kynson> I'm a boy then :-(
[cufconline] I thought Finney was supposed to be up front against BAHA ?
[paulclements] hello ?
[paulclements] what was pearsons reaction
kynson> He was, as I say he played well there, so why put him in midfield
- again against Scunthorpe?
[Jeffsteel] I hear the commentary from Sydney this arvo, England got about
- 260 and the Aussie commentators were saying good things about them!
kynson> I've not heard a Pearson interview about yesterdays match, sorry
- Paul
[cyprochris] Also he complained about Johnny H and Dave W putting him in as
- a winger
[cufconline] Did we ignore your question Paul ? NP said he was disappointed
- and it wasnt good enough
kynson> Too right !
[Jeffsteel] Does Pearson complain about his players in public??
[paulclements] so whats he gann tae dee aboot it
[cyprochris] He sais after Exeter that a 1 off bad do was not bad, but it
- better had not happen again - i fear some sales imminent
[cyprochris] he complains about the team, but not individuals
kynson> Get the stick out and use it on them !
[cufconline] NP : "After the performance against Exeter I said I hoped it
- was a one-off but after today we've obviously got a lot of work to do."
[paulclements] i notice exeter lost to micks mob....
[Jeffsteel] Hey, this is great, suddenly all of the focus is away from
- Knighton!
[cufconline] Brian Laws : "We wanted it more than Carlisle and we deserved
- it more."
kynson> hehehe :-) I bet he is relieved!
[paulclements] laws should stick to throwing plates of sarnies at moody
- italians....
[cufconline] Tee hee
[Jeffsteel] Enough of this gay banter, I really gotta go! See you all next
- week I hope!
kynson> See ya !-)
[paulclements] why would scumthorpe want it more than Carlisle ???
[cyprochris] taa
[cufconline] Sunday Sun : " On a poor pitch, Carlisle were simply outplayed
- by the better side"
kynson> Yep.
[Jeffsteel] **JS leaves chat**
[cufconline] See ya JS
[paulclements] g'day
[cyprochris] byeeee Antipodean
[cufconline] Is this the "long goodbye" ?
[paulclements] night john boy
kynson> "Long kiss goodnight" - now that was a good film!
kynson> night mary ellen
[cufconline] A Hard Day's Night ??
[paulclements] fek off
[cyprochris] oh god
kynson> oh Kosh
[cufconline] he's still here....
kynson> In Valens name, shoul;d he stay or should he go now?!
[paulclements] just ignore him
[cufconline] PRESS THE LOG OFF! BUTTON JEFF !!!!
kynson> This is the best exchange today !-)
[cyprochris] Are u going or not - we want to talk an=bout yer behind yer
- back
kynson> I think he has gone, but the system hasn't logged him off - a ghost
- Jeff !-)
[paulclements] .....what about yesterday.....why can't carlisle win or score
- at home ????
kynson> Hard to say, they just didn't seem to have their heart in it, except
- for Dobie, Prokas and Caig.
>> cyprochris has left channel #XC.1228116
kynson> and out of those three, caig was the only one to play well.
[paulclements] why.....
>> cyprochris has joined channel #XC.1228116
[cyprochris] Hellow ow
[paulclements] i'm looking at the program of the first cufc match i ever
- saw...6th september 1991 aldershot (a)
kynson> demoralised? but why? Who knows, there is obviously something quite
- basic wrong with their attitudes. maybe it is the long term effect of the
- Knighton intervention.
[cufconline] That game was void - IIRC
cufconline> Shots thrown out of league - or went bust
[cyprochris] ALdershot went bankrupt not long after
cufconline> I think it was 2-2 with Proudlock scoring both
[cyprochris] Thats why they are now called Aldershot 1992
[paulclements] the team on the back
- is...o'hanlon,edmonson,barnsley,miller,jeffels,graham,thomas,proudlock,thorp
- e,fyfe and deakin...
cufconline> Bring back John Deakin!!!
[cyprochris] that was the days i was unemployed and had no money
cufconline> No change there then ;-)
[cyprochris] used to watch Whitehaven Rugby League instead
[cyprochris] Yep Al - but no need for money over her, beer is cheap
[paulclements] is proudlock still playing for gateshead ?
[kynson] I've just got to go for a minute. Irish Kevin wants to use the
- 'phone. keep a log Al.
>> kynson has left channel #XC.1228116
[cyprochris] tell 'im to piss off
cufconline> "Irish Kevin" ? Sounds a bit rough !
[paulclements] how did the reds get on yesterday ?
[cyprochris] Beat Southampton 7-1
[paulclements] fek off...I meant the reds fae workington ya bampot
cufconline> Looking for their score now
[cyprochris] I know - sorry i have an inbuilt trip switch that goes into
- 'Who gives a toss i hope they got beat 36-0'. It stems from living in
- Whitehaven for 20 years - a local thing
>> Jeffsteel has left channel #XC.1228116
cufconline> Postponed by the looks of it,Paul
[paulclements] all reet kidda
[paulclements] ah
[paulclements] do we have a midweek game ???
cufconline> Yes at Scunthorpe - sound familiar?
[paulclements] do you think cufc are better off now or before MK rolled into
- town ?
[cyprochris] Financially better, fotballwise probably worse
cufconline> Better off financially yes. Roughly back where we started on the
- field, unfortunately
[paulclements] does he have genuine feelings for the team...or is he simply
- massaging his ego ?
[cyprochris] I go for the latter
cufconline> Bit of both maybe ??
[cyprochris] I think not - he tried to take over about 6 or 7 teams before
- us
>> PMJ has joined channel #XC.1228116
cufconline> He needs them to do well so he can raise the money to repay
- himself
[paulclements] i always go back to the Bury game during the championship
- season...12,500 lock out...thats the potential of cufc
[cyprochris] Phil - weh heh hey
cufconline> This looks like Phil
[PMJ] Hello all
[PMJ] Finally got up for this session!
cufconline> Those days seem long gone at the mo, Paul
[cyprochris] Bloody piss head
[PMJ] ... oh and a browser thats supports it helps as well!
[cyprochris] 10,000 regular in those days
[paulclements] the bury game was amazing...the noise when we scored was
- deafining.....
[PMJ] Crap yesterday then...?
[cyprochris] Mind you people were getting axcitred about the AWS final in
- those days
[paulclements] people will watch a winning team, whatever the journey.....
[PMJ] Anyone joining me at Southend / Cambridge / Brentford?
[paulclements] no
cufconline> We were pretty poor yesterday Phil. Conditions tricky but Scunny
- were the better side
[PMJ] Quite nice being in London with all these games at once
[cyprochris] Yep - i used to live just along from Rushden. There gates were
- nowt special then all of a sudden they started winning and all the Peterboro
- fans started to go there - this was the season Posh went down
[paulclements] bring back eric gates
cufconline> I think we'll only be in here for those games, Phil - warmer ;-)
[PMJ] What was the state of the pitch Alastair?
cufconline> Heavy near the middle but it was OK generally - a lot easier
- than the one at Scunny
[paulclements] The pitch was good at Forfar....
[cyprochris] One good thing about all these Londn games - not many will make
- it so we can establish the commentary room a bit more
[PMJ] It's actually sunny and quite mild here today... lets hope it holds
- for the next few weeks
[cyprochris] Only 75F here today
[paulclements] itsn't brentfords pitch a bit of a pig.....you piss on it and
- the games off ???
[PMJ] I've managed to drag a Brighton fan to Southend next week as well as
- meeting up with Adrian from the list
[PMJ] God knows why it was off yesterday - it was a nice day here!
cufconline> Brentford havent drawn a single game - so it looks like win or
- bust!
[cyprochris] I notice that when all the other west london games are on
- (Fulhametc), Brentford is often off
[PMJ] Went there couple of seasons ago when we played them and won 1-0...
- can't remember the scorer now... was it Sumo?
[cyprochris] Matt
[PMJ] Bust!
[cyprochris] That was last seaon
[paulclements] is matty on strike.....
cufconline> Didnt play yesterday I dont think - he is "unsettled" at the
- moment (wants to leave)
[PMJ] Thats right... it was down the far end and we didn't have a clue...
- then again we'd had a cheeky drink or two as well which didn't help!
[cyprochris] i hope not, cos if he is i will have to slag him off like i did
- with paolo and Van Hoy
[paulclements] is there any chance of tempting him back to BP ?
[PMJ] He is getting a load of press down here at the moment - in the
- Standard every day nearly!
[PMJ] to watch maybe...
[paulclem[paulclements] is Boertien playing again yet ??
[PMJ] and I tiold him about Matty a couple of years ago and he wishes they'd
- bid for him then!!!.....
[PMJ] BUT he reckons Matty has made the right decision by going to Palace
- before a big club. Get himself established first
[cyprochris] Matt wasn't in the 1st team then
[PMJ] Yeah... this was just after Southend away last season
cufconline> Arsenal and Villa in the running to sign him - Palace want at
- least 6m
[paulclements] who...Paul Boertien ??
[cyprochris] Teamtalk reckon he's valued at 5 mill - they are pissing me off
- right now
cufconline> Sorry - that was Matty. Boertien is fit again now.
cufconline> Newcastle withdrew from negotiations last week
[PMJ] Newcastle are the favourites though as Matty is a massive fan and
- regulalrly talks to Shearer on the phone
[PMJ] oh... whoops!
[paulclements] is he better than the guys currently in the team ??
[PMJ] It would be Peter Clak dropping out
[cyprochris] How does he know shearer?
[PMJ] Dunno actually!
cufconline> I think Gullit got pissed off coz he was having private talks
- with Palace and the papers got hold of the story and bigger offers came in
[paulclements] I thought Boertien was meant to be the next big exit after
- Delap and Jansen.....
cufconline> Not until he proves his fitness I dont expect
>> cherylst has joined channel #XC.1228116
[cyprochris] yes but hes been out for so long
[cyprochris] hello chery
[PMJ] He had a stormer for the 10 matches he played but then a year out is a
- long time to be out - he'll have to stat all over again
[paulclements] howay kidda
cufconline> Yeah - 13 months out with a broken kneecap - nasty injury
cufconline> RU a CUFC Fan cherlyst?
[PMJ] Do we know if he's still on form?
[cherylst] Type HEREHello all I`m a new member from Perth Australia

- sub to have ??
[PMJ] G'Day
cufconline> You just missed Jeff Steel who was in here earlier, Cheryl
[cherylst] OH yes from 1966 on
[PMJ] Never rated Thorpey apart from Scunny - could have used him yesterday!

[cherylst] I`ve heard of him
[cyprochris] How long you been on the list Cheryl
cufconline> he's from Melbourne
[cherylst] just a week

[cyprochris] OK - can u mail chrismc2@hotmail.com or phil jones with details
- of yourself so we can keep the list up to date
cufconline> Just tell us where you come from and I'll put you on the list on

[paulclements] do you remember Malcolm Poskett
[cherylst] Oh yes
TO cufconline> Have I missed much?
[paulclements] is he better than Ian Stevens....
[PRIVATE FROM cufconline] I have managed to log most of it, dave
[cherylst] He scored a few goals for us with Alan Shoulder
[paulclements] I mean now...even at 40'odd ??
[cherylst] Ian Stevens I haven`t seen
[PMJ] What was your last game?
TO cufconline> Thanks, I'll keep it from here as well now. Could you email
- me what you've got now?
[cherylst] NOV,89 home to Hartlepool

TO cyprochris> Well, as I said, we would see how it went and then decide. It
- went well, most liked it, so we keep it !-)
[cherylst] IWe were back in 97 the whole team was ordinary
[PRIVATE FROM cufconline] OK - it's on it's way to you now

[cherylst] Oh
kynson> It is strange, I don't really watch sport on TV, in fact the only
- sport I generally watch are Carlisle United matches.
[cherylst] Is Aspinall coming back?
[paulclements] thats strange...I love sport on telly
[paulclements] he's not fat enough
[cyprochris] me too - i only get sunday games, eoro games, england games and
- grandstand - but indoor bowling does not appeal to me
[cherylst] are you guys all from Carlisle?
[paulclements] no.....Stirling, Central Scotland.....
kynson> I am from Keswick orignally, Whinlatter Pass to be exact, but I live
- and work in carlisle now
[cyprochris] Me - Whitehaven for 20 years, then RAF all over England for 6
- years, now Cyprus for next 3 years
[paulclements] chris...what are eoro games
[cherylst] Really! supporters everywhere
TO cyprochris> Did I miss anyone other than Phil whilst Kev was on the
- 'phone?
[cyprochris] Cheryl - do you watch Aussie (n0) rules football?
[cyprochris] Can't remember anyone
[cherylst] yes.Perth`s team are west coast eagles
kynson> I actually used to watch Aussie Rules when I was at Uni - I thought
- it looked good fun, but then I have a strong Rugby background
[paulclements] these guys all come from cumbria so support their local
- team...I've chosen out of all the teams in England to support Carlise......
[cyprochris] There's a mad sport if ever i saw one
kynson> Poor bugger :-)
[paulclements] ......i must be mad...
[cyprochris] yep
[cherylst] Aussie rules is a real mans game!!!!
kynson> Too right, Sport?
[paulclements] aussie rules is crap.....
[cyprochris] i must be mad, its 75F outside and I'm sat in her (thats 3
- times Ive managed to gloat today)
kynson> Nah, that and Gaelic Football look a good laugh !-)
[cherylst] I still prefer soccer though
[cyprochris] soccer - aaarrgghhh - you mean football!1
[paulclements] the only ball game worth watching is football
kynson> It must be my build, but I always preferred playing rugby over
- soccer.
[cherylst] In Perth today it was 38c
[paulclements] soccer is what the yanks call footie....
[paulclements] rugby is for fatties
[paulclements] it was 38 here too....38f
[cyprochris] how long is todays chsat gonna last - mrs chris is crying now
[cherylst] Iknow it`s football, but these Aussies won`t change it!!!!
kynson> No, soccer originally comes from the Public Schools that playedrugby - rugger and soccer, from Rugby Football and Association Football
[paulclements] ok......i'm off see you (speak to you) all on tuesday.......
kynson> In the US, American Football meant that rugby and soccer were
- marginalised
[cyprochris] seeya paul
kynson> see ya Paul
[paulclements] bye
>> paulclements has left channel #XC.1228116
[cherylst] Anyway why are cufc so bad
kynson> I was saying earlier that it doesn't seem to be a skill problem,
- more an attitiude problem at the moment.
[cyprochris] although i can only go by reports on here as i last saw a game
- in september, i tend to disagree
kynson> How?
[cyprochris] Brighton are not as good a team as we think
kynson> And?
[cherylst] Well I might come back again next week nice to talk to you
[cyprochris] even their supporters say that.
[cyprochris] I find it very informative to subscribe to the opposition list
- to see their side
[cyprochris] Bye Cheryl. Come back soon
kynson> Cheryl - if you are going to drop in to the chat room match
- commentaries, I recommend having a look at the shorthand guide on my
- website.
kynson> www.kynson.org.uk
kynson> then reeves is offside again
[cyprochris] dave i does your site have more than just RIOA then?
kynson> There is a link at the top of this page
[cherylst] bye for now, reeves is offside i`ve seen,I`ll try your site
- though thanks a lot
kynson> Yes, Chris. There is stuff about me, my holidays and so on, and a
- Kristen Johnston fanzine
kynson> Bye Cheryl
[cyprochris] Bye
[cherylst] bye
[cyprochris] ANy pics of you ets?
[cyprochris] I like to know who I'm talking to
kynson> Yes. if you go to the root site, www.kynson.org.uk and then to
- the "about webmaster" bit
[cyprochris] i'll try that later when the wife has finished on this thing.
- BTW have you heard of aol Isnstant Messenger or ICQ?
kynson> No?
[cyprochris] AOL you have heard of yes?
kynson> Oh, yeah
[cyprochris] Well, it has an Instant Messenger thing. Lets you speak to
- people like this, and just sits ther when not in use. Makes a sound when a
- friend goes online and you can search for people with similr interests. ICQ
- similar but you can do far more things on it. I'm gonna have a go this arvo
- cos a mate showed me it yesterday
kynson> Ah, yes. I knew of the system, not the names. Not a great deal of
- use for me, this is the only real online time I do.
kynson> The chat was OK then yesterday? you seemed to be saying earlier
- that there were problems.
[cyprochris] true - but my main point is if it goes completely wrong and
- people are still delighted with the service which they were, it proves we
- are moving in the right direction. Funny cosidering i only had the idea out
- of a selfish wanting of some match action. I know it had been tried before,
- but i could not see that without a bit of effort from us, we can really make
- it work
kynson> I am definitely getting a mobile 'phone this month. Then I should
- be able to call from home games at half-time and join the chat when I get
- home, like yesterday
>> cherylst has left channel #XC.1228116
kynson> Aye, David Arnison tried it before, but he was doing a Radio Cumbria
- audio feed, and I don't think people were keen on that. This is more
- interactive and people feel like they are really part of the action.
[cyprochris] Yep - hopefully when it gets more established (hopefully in
- next few eeks with loads of away games), it will get more popular, more
- ideas will come from the customers, and we can improve it even more, sort of
- a vicious circle in a positive way -
kynson> The only problem may be this 25 member limit - where did you see
- about that?
[cyprochris] Yes - it gets a bit of banter with opposing fans too -
- yesterday we had some good banter going
kynson> Positive feedback?
[cyprochris] yes
kynson> It is a bit weird to see chants getting typed in, though !-)
[cyprochris] ALastair I think said it
[cyprochris] We could start to look for a service where we can get more than
- 25 maybe?
kynson> We may have to try and find a bigger room. I wonder if ISFA would be
- interested?
[cyprochris] we could ask
[cyprochris] if not, i know the scunnies have one, i will ask them how big
- theirs is - but they dionlt use it much
[cyprochris] maybe xoom could increase ours
[cyprochris] but i'm getting pissed off with time to log in when busy and
- getting kicked off xoom
kynson> We will have to check out all the options. I'll do some research
- next week. I am away on this course Monday to Wednesday, but I should be
- safely home for the AWS match.
[cyprochris] OK - mrs chris wants on here now. I'll have to go
kynson> Ok, see you on Tuesday
[cyprochris] tata
