Brentford 1-0 Carlisle United

BBC Teletext : Carlisle boss Nigel Pearson is unlikely to make any changes to his
 side at Barnet after tasting victory for the first time at Brunton Park. Centre-back
 Scott Paterson is still sidelined through injury but otherwise the Cumbrians are
 trouble free. United are just one point above their hosts and need to win to ease the
 threat of a relegation fight. The Cumbrians are aiming for their fourth away win of 
 the season to gain mid-table respectability, but have an 8 foot drop from one end of
 the pitch to the other to deal with! There is still confusion over the rumoured ground
 sharing of Brunton Park with Clydebank. The club seems to have denied any deal other
 than for perhaps one game, but Knighton is keen to help.

Knighton on the future of Carlisle United : I can confirm that we had an urgent and
 desperate fax for the use of Brunton Park for this Saturday because they have been
 playing at Dumbarton and have a backlog of matches. We had to turn them down for
 this Saturday but we will cooperate in the future because we don't want to see them
 in a fix. It is now in the hands of the SFA for them to pass Brunton Park as a venue
 for Clydebank. This is a critical game for us and we need to build on Saturday's
 form. We are just as far off play-off place as a relegation place. We are now looking
 at next season after a disappointing season and thank heavens for the loyal 2500. 
 Nigel has come in and is on a steep learning curve because it is tough in the 3rd
 division, but he mustn't get down-hearted. I have to say that I would have been
 hung, drawn and qurtered for the results that Nigel has had. Some people think that
 good players will be good coaches. With the same squad, Nigel has done slightly worse,
 but that is no reflection on him. Things like this happen. In the summer there will
 be big changes. I can honestly say that Nigel and I have not discussed his position
 after the end of the season. Nigel is getting on with the job and whether he wants to
 stay on is not being discussed. He is concentrating on getting points in the bag. I
 am giving him my full support. We have offered Paul McGregor a good package, but Notts
 Forest must settle his current contract, we can't afford to. I made offers on Friday
 and Monday. I am currently writing a piece on why no-one wants to be a football
 chairman anymore.
