Live on Skye!

Strange that, Cambridge United moving their home tie with us to a Friday night on a Scottish Island. Still, it did them no good because we still took them apart and cruised to a 3-1 win. For me the best moments were the Hawaii 50 goal celebrations, a possibility here for us to do our own nananana tune as opposed to the "inherited" Sheffield Wednesday one.

Another surreal moment occurred to me (while I was watching the match) concerning the inflatable sheep. Considering the number that there are, isn't it odd how there aren't any inflatable border collies? If we had one we could even rig up a sheep pen using scarves and do our own "One man and his dog" show at half-time for the fans. Also, with it being an enactment of a sheep dog trial we could have a jury and if the dog wasn't good enough we could have a good old fashioned hanging at the end. That would keep the Conservatives happy and let's face it - they need some cheering up after the Wirral by-election.

As for post-match celebrations in February, I had the last week off (no, week off, not wee cough) and so went for a mini-cruise to Norway. Very nice it was too, ship rolling around, getting soaked in Bergen and drinking and playing cards when I wasn't asleep !-) The best bit was coming back on the Tuesday through the gales with waves which were crashing over the observation lounge at the front of the ship which was about 60 or 70 feet above sea level - it was like being on a roller coaster for hours! Many thanks to Color Line for that experience! What was most unfortunate about this was that it meant I was too late back into Newcastle to make it to the Chester City match and had to make do with Radio Cumbria again. Not that I am criticising Radio Cumbria, it is great to hear live commentary of the match in-between the discussions about the "country smells" from the outside of the ground....

After the Norwegian leg of my holiday I went to London for an exhibition on Wednesday (for work) and had a spooky experience. While driving around a roundabout on the A320 in London which was next to the Alitalia Airways building I saw an Airbus tour coach (cue X-Files music)........
