The appointment of Nigel Pearson was, for many, a welcome development and we will have to see between now and the end of the season what he can achieve. The good news is that Knighton was good to his word and kept on Wilkes and Halpin who did an excellent job of bringing through young players in the past. Hopefully we will see similarly good young players coming through in the future.
The "will Peter Beardsley come back to Carlisle United" saga reached all time highs and lows in December until it was finally announced by Carlisle United's Jonathan Fuller that the club had withdrawn their offer of a playing contract because of Peter's delay in responding. This left those fans who had bought a club replica shirt with "Beardsley" on the back in a bemused position.
