Well, here we are in the year 2000. We have survived the apocalypse. Shopping over xmas and New Year can be such a bitch.....
The Vote for Jimmy Glass for Sports Personality of the Year campaign didn't succeed, but we secured probably 1000 votes which wasn't too bad. The man who scored the goal which gave us our Great Escape will be the SPOTY to us all, though.
The SoS 2000 match was a great success in every sense with the crowd getting behind the team for nearly all of the game. Scott Dobie was deservedly MOTM with two goals and dogged persistence. A close second was again Richard Prokas, both for his persistence and headed goal that all but sealed the game for The Cumbrians. All the players put in real effort and were rewarded by the crowd of 4565 getting solidly behind the team. Although the attendance was not as high as was hoped for SoS 2000, the end result was as hoped for.
Our League Position is 22nd after the SoS match. Worrying, but the team is starting to look like a team and with a settled squad things are starting to look better. We were unfortunate in our last 3 matches of 1999 and made up for it in our first match of 2000.
In December I discovered a spatial anomaly which allowed me to communicate with myself in an alternate universe where Carlisle United are in fact a top English club. I like this other reality - anyone care to join me there?
