November was dominated by the on-off sale of the club. Michael Knighton tabled a no confidence vote in the current board and some people have thought that this could be at the behest of the new owners, so that they can bring in their own board members. Let us hope that the new owners also bring in more money and more success. But who are these new owners? Is it Mark Knighton? Brookes Mileson? The Norwegian Blue? The grey Aliens? Or Henry, the mild mannered janitor?
The month started off with a dismal match against Brighton & Hove Albion. At that match it struck me that of late being a Carlisle United fan is a bit like being a rabbit caught in the headlights of an oncoming car. Both know that it'll kill them, but they have to watch it anyway..... But CUFC fans are eternal optimists and an occasional win (in Valen's name, they are very occasional) convinces us that a revival maybe around the corner.
The two highlights of the month were our 3-1 win over Southend and the Ian Stevens 4 goal blockade buster!! A 5-1 win was a wonder to behold, even over Conference opposition. It is no lie to say they probably would have beaten us a couple of weeks before that match.
And so Xmas is coming and all CUFC fans have a similar prezzie list:
Will we be the Norwegian Blues? Well we aren't dead yet. We have not ceased to be. We are, not yet at least, no more. The wins over Southend and Woking were welcome, but we desperately need more points and time is slowly running out.
....and late news in..... We've drawn a team of Southern Softies in the F.A. Cup. The fools think they'll beat us!!!
