In early December we had two Saturdays, two free kicks against us, two 2-1 defeats. There has still been a definite improvement over the early season. So come on, armchair fans, get back and support your team. Oh, but those who think that supporting a team consists of fighting and obscene ranting can stay at home, as far as I am concerned.
A hard earned 0-0 draw at Scunthorpe & we both come out of the hat with a pop at playing Leeds Utd at home. Now there was incentive for winning the replay! Unfortunately, after one postponed attempt, we lost the replay.
Our last big cup match was the infamous Arsenal match, after which we were unfairly tarred and feathered by parts of the media. It was also a large crowd and most of those same people promised to come back if JC bought CUFC.
I predicted a 2-1 win over Wrexham in the LDV and a 2-1 defeat in the league, so I was right there, although I'd have happily swopped those around to get the league points.
Again, discipline let us down in many games with more bookings. If we are to make anything of this season we need to punish the poor discipline off-field before it occurs on-field.
Not many points over the Festive season saw us drop back into the relegation zone and so the Southend game could have been seen as make or break time. Thankfully it was make! Some have said we dominated that game, but I would say it was another game which could have gone either way. This time it went to us, though! The team still looks good and I am still more confident this season than in recent years. Mid table by the end of Feb??
