November 2003

With my summer move to Cambridgeshire, the new job and house hunting, I haven't made many games this season. I was at the Lincoln game and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. There were a few sloppy passes, some silly moments and an occasional moment of madness, but I've seen worse performances from teams which went on to survive. Yes, we're XX points adrift, but I am optimistic that post-CVA, and with a couple of choice players, we may rise out of the mire. All I want for Xmas is to be back in the pack.

Although I am the eternal optimist, let me talk about the tiny possibility that we may get relegated. It will not be the end of the world. Not that long ago, following reports that the club may be wound up, many CUFC fans were planning in case there would be no Carlisle United, including starting again, like Wimbledon. So we are pleased to have a club, thanks to JC & RC.

My only interest in soccer is Carlisle United, and that is out of a County patriotism. I never watch televised soccer unless it is CUFC or a major England international. My family were traditionally Workington Reds fans and my eldest brother still goes, it was some CUFC cousins that started taking me to CUFC. I think this season is largely written off for me, with the move and house move, but wherever we are next season, I'll be trying to make as many games as I can.

There must be many fans of other teams out there who feel that after the last few close shaves it is Carlisle's turn to go down. They may be right, but I hope they aren't. We need points.

Say it loud, say it proud:
WE ARE THE JAMMY DODGERS!!!!
