The Return

Tier 5 has kept a lot of good teams down over the years through ground requirements and only one team getting promoted. The season was long and hard, and Barnet ran away with the title in the end. When the final kick was taken, we were in the play-offs.

The play-off final. I couldn't bring myself to go, as Clare had become a Carlisle United fan through me, and I wasn't ready to go to a game without her. Mate Alan from Carlisle and Sean from here in March joined me to watch the match and we had mucho boozo and mucho snackos. Fairly nerve wracking, but enjoyable, and we deserved to win it. When it all finished, Alan and I were jumping up and down, hugging, whilst Sean looked on bemused! No hangover the next day, just quite tired. The excitement brought up mixed emotions and I didn't go to bed until gone 01:30, and got up at 07:40. It was an early night the next night!

I won't dwell too long on why RIOA hasn't been updated much lately, but my wife Clare died of stomach cancer in November 2004, just days after our wedding. I know I've got to move on with my life, whilst never forgetting Clare and how much I loved her. She was more important to me than anything else, including Carlisle United.
