OK, we'll keep it short this month. October wasn't the best possible month, with a bad league run and also an early exit in the Beermat Trophy at Accrington Stanley. However, we knew this season would be hard and Big Mac has made a good start overall, so let us give him until the end of the season now.

I attended the Accrington Stanley match, as my brother lives nearby in Burnley. I also took my Cumbrian flag and tied up behind the goal, but unfortunately it has still to see a Carlisle United win in normal time, although it was at the Bradford League Cup game, which we won on penalties. My last banner was equally unlucky in its initial outings but did well subsequently.

Racism and oiks (or chavs). We've had a lot of incidents lately with oiks at Carlisle games, but it is rumoured that it got worse away. Apparently some of these brainless little morons decided to abuse one of the match officials even before the game kicked off, simply because of his race and/or perceived religion. I just wish they would sod off and let the normal fans enjoy the game. The club and authorities must act against them.

Workington Reds have had the odd similar incident. Unfortunately, it has been said that Redditch "made the most" of an incident at Workington, and some have even suggested they used a single racist insult as an excuse to get the game abandoned. If this turns out to be true, then he deserves to be punished hard. Racism is wrong, but exploiting it for personal/club gain is also very wrong.

There have been calls from fans for the deckchair kit to be elevated from 3rd kit to 2nd kit, a move I support. I don't like the red kit, but have always liked the deckchair kit.

Since the spring I've been playing in the Monday night soccer six league in Carlisle for Crown Corkers, and I've recently added a Crown Corkers section to my web space. We're currently in the third tier.... or the bottom level, as it is otherwise known.
