The Ring of Fire

Firstly, I have to say I was surprised at the departure of Neil McDonald. He did what was asked of him, and kept us in Tier 3. We also were pushing up to the last couple of games for a play-off place. He brought in some good players, too. The only fault that could be found was occasional tactical errors and a couple of disappointing pre-season friendlies, but overall I thought he was a good manager and deserved another season at the helm. It was not to be, though, so we have to now look to the future.

We've had a good start to the season, and we're now sitting at our highest in a couple of decades, with the best defensive record in the top four tiers. However, with that comes the knowledge that we will now be a target for the teams we face. We must also score some more goals.

This month will see me greatly distracted from Carlisle United, with the IRB Rugby World Cup starting this Friday. I will be watching every game I possibly can. England are not at the top of their game, it must be said, but I'll be supporting them and Scotland, as always. Shame Cumbria aren't in it as a separate nation ;-)

And finally, a brief mention for my new most favourite eating out place - The Spice Enterprise. A cracking curry-pub, that is just around the corner from my new house. Couldn't ask for more, could you? There followed a thread about this on the message board.
