Sweet Chariot

September was a bit of a nothing month, really. Middling results, but staying near the top. Greg Abbott has laid a reasonable claim to keeping the manager's job, although speculation continues. A return for Paul Simpson has been suggested by some, but with him struggling at Preston, do we want him back??

The Rugby World Cup has been my main focus over the last month, though. I confess to being more of a fan of Rugby Union than of Association Football. It was a relief to see England get through to the quarter-finals, although how far we will get ultimately is another matter. After the demolition by RSA and generally poor performances in the group phases, we have squeezed through, but this remains the worst England squad I've seen in 30 years of watching Rugby Union, when compared to contemporary squads down the years.

At the end of July I gave up having a work's lease car, and after two months with no vehicle I picked up my 'new to me' car today. I had planned to get a camper van to make it easy to follow Carlisle United away more often, and also to have other nights and weekends away. However, the cost of insurance on a van made me change my mind and instead I've bought one of the boxy la'al French cars, and will have that converted next year into a basic la'al camper van. I am calling my new car Wee Kendra. Think about it.....
