Nearly two thousand fans turned out to support our Youth team in their FA Youth Cup quarter-final match against Aston Villa. We lost 2-0, but only to one excellent (unstoppable) looping shot from the edge of an area, and a penalty. Well done to the Youth team for an excellent cup run!

Taylor tackle on Eduardo was horrific, but it did not appear to be malicious. Again, though, Mr Wenger came out fighting and saying that Taylor should be banned for life when his own players have been more malicious in the past. Hmm. Arsenal struggle to beat a weaker team and Wenger rants on about a bad tackle. Carlisle and Prokas, anyone? Anyone?

Ward is keeping us in the promotion chase, although only on home results admittedly. My lovely new Cumbrian flag had to date only experienced the sight of defeat, as I had taken it initially to Bury v Workington in the FA Cup, then to Northampton and Oldham. To try to let it experience a win I took it to Brunton Park and sure enough, a win resulted!

My Cumbrian flag

My flag did provoke some comment/feedback on the CUFC messageboard following its display at Brunton Park, with none of it negative other than a couple of requests that it should be Cumberland rather than Cumbria. What started as a bit of a joke and just a banner for me to take to Carlisle United matches and other Cumbrian events has started to gain momentum! It is even now linked from the Wikipedia page for Cumbria.

I'm now even taking orders from people for flags and static cling car stickers!
