Happy New Year!
Well, they all say that March is "in like a lion, and out like a lamb". Carlisle United certainly stormed through March like a lion, extending their home wins record to 14 matches! We are now poised in second place, with a clear gap between us and the play-off places. We can only believe that we will continue as is and push for the Championship in both senses, by winning the league and getting promotion.
If we do go up this season, it will start the clock ticking for the stadium to be all seater within three years. Now, for the moment I think just bolting seats into the terraces is the quick fix and cheap solution, and is the best approach to ensure funds go towards ensuring we stay in Tier 2. However, when we rebuild at Brunton Park, I think we should:
- Demolish the existing Waterworks End
- Build new indoor pitch facility further to the north, ready to connect to new Waterworks End stand
- Move the pitch north, as planned by "He who shall not be named"
- CBS Stand
- Home fans only
- Executive Boxes
- new restaurant (seating in cushioned middle segment)
- The new main entrance to the club
- Waterworks End
- Home fans only
- small seated stand
- Changing rooms, physio, etc.
- connected in corner to CBS Stand (on the First Floor) for access to Exec facilities
- also connected to new indoor pitch facility
- players run out from corner, between Waterworks End and CBS Stand
- Players/Relatives viewing boxes at back
- Service Road running across the back, along the flood defence
- Roof line would be triple-peak, reminiscent of old Warwick Road End roof
- Mounting points within the stand for assembly of a stage for hosting concerts
- Warwick Road End
- Home fans
- Integrated Club Shop and commercial activities
- Service Road running across the back
- Low, flat roof, sloped towards pitch. Would allow sun onto most of the pitch in winter
- West Stand
- Home and Away fans
- Away fans (at south end of stand) would be taken into the new West Stand via the lane alongside the current club shop
- parking there for coaches
- Home fans would access the stand from the north end
- Inside of stand would be a large open conference facility, with option to compartmentalise
How it would look:
