This pre-season I made all but the Chester match. Overall, I would say the squad looks as strong as it did at the end of the season, which at that time had seen players improving over the course of that season. We did lose a couple of the friendlies, and yes two of them were rather embarrassing (Morecambe and Workington). However, friendlies are just that, and too much should not be read into them. We have all seen disastrous pre-seasons which were followed by brilliant seasons, and vice versa.
So where do I see us at the end of the coming season? Well, I think we'll be pushing for promotion again, and I think we'll all be disappointed if we miss out on it again. Having seen the squad, I think a little more strength in depth is needed, but we do have young players coming through again, so who knows?
As I said last month, I won't be going to MK Dons. Of the remaining games, there are plenty of grounds I've not been to, and I do plan to get to as many as I can this season.
