Well, we've had an incendiary start to November, haven't we? A 3-0 defeat away to Stockport and the annual Fireshow in the park was followed by the departure of John Ward from Brunton Park and the installation of Greg Abbott as caretaker manager for the second time. And they say that a week is a long time in politics!! This brought us to the FA Cup match against Grays Athletic today, and a chance for The Blues to halt the recent dismal run. A defeat could have seen things continue to get worse, if that was at all possible, but instead we were treated to a nervous and almost scrambled draw. Still, at least that bad run has been halted and we must now look ahead to the future.
It is a shame that John Ward's reign ended the way it did, but his final couple of interviews on Radio Cumbria were perceived as the fumblings of a man who had run out of ideas, one who simply no longer knew what do. I would write more here, but perhaps it is best to now draw a line under Mr Ward's failed tenureship.
