The Winter Solstice draws near.....

Well, the shortest day is nearing and my decorations are up, and things at Brunton Park are also starting to illuminate our lives once more. Some reasonable results through November has seen some consolidation in the table before we hit the psychologically damaging positions in the relegation zone. We also got through the FA Cup first round hiccups against Grays Athletic.

I feel sorry for those that made the long trip on a cold midweek night to Grays only for the match to be abandoned due to a floodlight failure. However, this did then give me the opportunity to make the trip myself on the Saturday, which I did. It was a long trip, but worthwhile. On the whole, the team is starting to look a bit settled now and more confident, so my hopes are raised that we can start to rise back up the table and be safe from relegation long before the end of the season.

As usual, there was some good banter on the bus to away games, but there has again been some debate on the message board between those that go on club buses and those that go on the "Supporters' Alternative". Some of this debate gets quite unnecessarily acrimonious - we're all fans and how we get to a game shouldn't be the cause of such friction, so can't we leave it at that?

As has become traditional over the last decade, I will be making my Winter Solstice Logs for my work colleagues, and will be taking some to the Boxing Day match. So, if any of you would like a snack, do please come and say hello :-)
