After the drama of the giant > keeper hurting > himself catching the taxi, we have unconfirmed reports via Radio Southend > and Ade Mc that our keeper from Sunderland was injured during the match. True enough - their guy slid in on him and damaged his knee. He had defenders kicking the ball for him for a while and, amazingly, we managed not to pass back. He was impeded for the goal and Carruthers (the scorer) was lucky to be still on the pitch for the sort of offences that got Shearer sent off - ie persistent! Not that we were angels - Whitehead was lucky to get only yellow for a very late tackle. Disappointing to hear the crowd boo them off at the end - we weren't that bad. Poor but not bad. Fairly even first half then they came out like tigers second half and we went to pieces. A fair result would have been three or four all. A vastly better Southend performance than their last two up here. Clarke was MoM by a long way - but Barr, Prokas and Hopper played well and we actually saw some action from Baker. Nice to see Scott Dobie on as sub. Soley will be out for around four weeks although he went into the match carrying an injury, Gregory could be out for two weeks - calf strain and Ingham is anybody's guess. In the post-match interview, Wilkinson said he had not been approached by anyone, let alone Charlton or Aberdeen but he did say that Leeds have had someone at most of our matches this season. He alluded to events off the pitch that he could not talk about. Rob Scott-Buccleuch
