With Neville Southall returning to BP in goal for Torquay, CUFC fans could be forgiven for thinking there would be another goal-fest for Carlisle. His last two visits are warmly remembered - he let in five, then he let in two and got sent off !-) It was not to be, this time. He kept a clean sheet _and_ stayed on the pitch. He did make a nice diving save from a deflected cross, too. The pitch was badly cut up, even before kick off, and there was lying frost and snow. Some of our best moves came from midfield and defence. Prokas made a lovely darting run into the right side of the penalty area and snapped a shot which just went past Southall's outreached hand.... and the left post... Clarke made several good crosses and passes, including one which was on a plate for Durnin, only for him to scuff it. The nearest chances, however, were for Torquay. They had a lob bounce off the cross bar and two others wildly go over the bar. However, there were chances for both teams and a draw is about fair. Positive things can be drawn from this 0-0 draw, though. Defensively, we were sound and coped well with the high crosses that Torquay played in for their big men. The team reacted well to the positive encouragement from the crowd. What we need now is for people to come back to BP, particularly for SoS 2000. One notable achievement on the night was Torquay player Jimmy Aggery clearing the ball with such force that it hit half way up the rear wall of the East Stand !-) David Atkinson
