Here we don't go. Another disappointing match. After a good first half, we have some strange substitutions and then a lack of anything. Does Cooper really know what he is doing? Nigel Wilcox
Strange substitutions? Was I at the same match? For instance bringing Tracey on brought us into the game more, he held the ball well which wasn't happening before that, hit the crossbar and scored a consolation. Have to agree however I was mystified when Bowman, who subsequently did naff all, replaced Pitts. What the hec was going on there? Richard Pascoe
Gotta agree with this. After 60-odd minutes Hull were there for the taking. They lacked energy, cohesion, and imagination, and after a brief burst after half-time were poor - in the words of a Hull fan stood next to me: "very extremely amateurish". The supporters at the home end - in which I stood with some Hull-supporting friends - were very disgruntled and had turned against their players big time. Hence, for me the most disappointing aspect of the match was that CUFC didn't seem prepared to really have a go for the three points. Even after bringing on a couple of strikers the style of play remained the same, and only after Hull scored did we really start to make things happen. Following the first goal Carlisle's play became more positive, with greater urgency, and was a little more threatening, if not particularly creative. (By the way, from my standpoint Hull's first goal looked more than a little offside, although that could be pre-match pints of ale and my Blues-tinted spectacles affecting my vision). With a little ambition we would have got something out of the game - if we can hit the bar and score a goal when pushing forward in the three minutes after going two-nil down, why shouldn't we display a similar approach in the preceeding 87 minutes? The good news is that a Hull fanzine - City Independent - contained an entire page featuring SOS 2000. As the article's byline was Lee Rooney I guess Lee wrote this - good work fella. Cheers, David O'Brien
